So there's this trend going around Facebook right now (some of you have probably seen it), and it looked like it'd make a pretty awesome contest. So I'm making a contest.
The basic concept is to design the cover for a CD case. Easy enough, right? Right. Which is why it's been made a bit more interesting.
Step 1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
(or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random)
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
Step 2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
(or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3)
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
Step 3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
(or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days)
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
Step 4 - Go to Fontfox and select "Random font" (or click http://www.fontfox.com/random-font.php)
This font must be featured somewhere in the cover. You can add others if you'd like, but this one must be prominent.
Step 5 - Throw it all together in Photoshop, adding any colors/effects/brushes/etc that you'd like. Be creative. A CD cover is usually something like 500x550, but I'm not going to be rigid about that. Just keep it reasonable.
Step 6 - Post it here and list your band name, album title, and style of music performed.
Example: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y195/p ... rwards.png
Obviously this is done on the honor system. There's no way I could stop you from clicking "random" until you get a quote, name, picture, and font that all match up just so. But that sort of takes all the fun out of it, don't you think?
So yeah. I'm not going to set a limit on contestants unless an insane number start entering, but just one entry per contestant. As for deadline, I'm going to say a week from Saturday right now, but I'm flexible on that. It's just that I'm flying to London for Spring break a week after that, and I'd like to have plenty of time to get voting all set up before I'm without computer for a week.
And...that's it. Go crazy.

I've been doing a million of these[and my own random faux-band art before I realized there was a trend - how serendipitous!] and it never ceases to amuse me, so I'll be joining.

Sounds like a blast. I would love to enter. Just have to warn you that I have lots of midterms these next couple weeks so I apologize if I am not able to submit an entry. If I miss the entry deadline, please go on without me. I will just vote if that happens. Good random luck everyone!

Whew, got it done. Not amazing like yours Pandora but it was still a load of fun! Not to mention Esteleth! You made the text really work with your cover even though you think its bland.
