Greetings and welcome to the first round of the Graphic Remake Contest!
You are probably wondering "what the heck is a graphic remake contest" (if I am correct in assuming this, then I am a mind-reader and you're going to give me a cookie right now), well I shall tell you.
I want you to look back at an old banner and say to yourself "hmm, I could do better than that now, I am older, wiser, more talented" (and other such smug adjectives). And then I want you to remake that banner. Hopefully using the same pictures, arranging the banner in the same way, and with similar text.
Now obviously, your new and improved banner does not have to be an exact copy, but you should be able to see that it follows your original pretty much the same. Colours, brushes, textures etc can all be different and improved upon.
Here is an example.
Although there are slight differences, you can see that I have tried to get my second banner to follow the first.
Whereas with this example I was inspired by the first banner and wanted to improve it, but I ended up with second banner being completely different.
So.. you know what you have to do and hopefully we'll see some long lost old banners getting a face-lift!
