Post subject:  CONTEST RULES - PLEASE READ!

Before you start posting, please read these very minor rules:

1) No contests for "Least favorite" things that involve forum members. If you want to have (for example) a least favorite ice cream flavor contest, fine, but no "Least favorite banner", "Least favorite signature", "Least favorite member", " Least favorite moderator" (the last two have never been started, but I want to make sure they never appear!) etc. contests.

2) No personal picture contests. This gets into a beauty contest and encourages people to vote for themselves waaaay too much.

3) If you start a contest, make sure you'll be able to stick around and finish it! Part of making a contest is accepting entries, posting the poll for people to vote on the entries, and posting the winners.

4) No trashing entries. As said before, any contests that personally involve forum members are supposed to be about favorites, not least favorites.

Contests can be LotR or non-LotR related as long as they follow these rules. Happy competing!

Nicely-put...one question do there have to be different threads for each thing? example:

Does there have to one thread for the entries
One thread for the voting
and one thread for the awards?

and when you post the winners do you have to make some sort of banner for them?

Do you mind if I sort of reply even though this was meant to be answered by moderators? :)

Okay - I have heard of people demanding that there be different sections of the Contest section for the threads of each of those three topics you named; however, it's far from definite. I have seen people create three different threads, so I'm sure it's okay. However, I've also seen a whole contest completed in one whole thread. So I'm not sure. It's very organized either way, come to think of it. Creating three different threads organizes the topics, but it'd be nice if it was all under one whole thread so that everything is together.

As for banners for the winners - I'm not sure it you're required to do that, but it would be nice if you did, so that the contestants and winners actually receive something from the contest. The awards can be any size you want, normally with the winner's name on it along with whatever titile they earned (first place, second place, etc.). And it would be nice if you also gave Honorable Mentions awards to those who participated in the contest, even if they didn't win. That way, everyone would have a good feeling and would have gotten something out of all of it, because participating in these kind of contests can be nerve-racking for some.

I hope I answered your questions; I did the best I could. :bye2:

I was wondering off the top of my head...

are you allowed to enter entrys in your own contests?

In your own contests? I think you can, although it probably isn't very appropriate because as the manager of the contest, you're in charge that everything runs smoothly, and so entering in something made by yourself just seems a bit . . . unfair. You probably can, but it would probably be better not to. Hope I helped! :bye2:

It's fine if you enter in your own contest - just no voting for oneself ;) The only way entering in your own contest would be unfair is if you weren't going to have a public opinion poll to decide the winners and were instead going to have them judged by a group including yourself.

Question are we allowed to do two contests at once?

I don't see any problem with that. :) People have done that before, and as long as you tend to both contests, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Oh - of course!!! I don't see why not - just as long as you can manage and carry them both out efficiently!!! :bye2:

However we will not be held responsible if the contestants of one of your contests suddenly stalk you constantly so that you could hurry up with the contest.

Kidding, of course.

If you want to do the honorable mention banners for people who enter, what should you put on them? Should I just put like, their name and then 'Villian Banner Contestant' (that's the contest I'm currently doing) on it?

^ That's sounds like a great idea to me :)

Or, "Honary [sp?] Mention: [name of contestant]"?
