Post subject: | Are sharks dangerous in the Maldives? |
Hello everyone. My colleague and I are planning a trip to the Maldives and are looking forward to snorkelling and diving. But we've heard that there are dangerous sharks there. Is there really cause for concern? Does anyone have personal experience or additional information about the local shark population and safety measures? |

I completely understand your concern, but honestly, there is nothing to worry about. The sharks you will see near the reefs are usually blacktip or whitetip reef sharks, and they are extremely shy. They are more afraid of you than you are of them. Larger sharks, such as whale sharks, are actually the main attraction, and they are gentle giants. Seriously, the biggest risk is getting sunburned, not encountering a shark. I read a great article that breaks down the statistics and debunks all the myths. If you're curious about how many shark attacks there have actually been in the Maldives, you can find the information here https://relaxresidencemaldives.com/byli ... cheloveka/ |
