Basically - take a picture of your self reading LotR - anybook, and make a banner of that photo. I created this contest bearing in mind our summer revival. WML I'm just wondering if self-photo contests are allowed? I seem to remember they are not....but I could be wrong... |

I would think that since the contest itself doesn't revolve around the individual, it would be fine. It seems that people would be voting more based on the graphic quality than the individual's looks or something, so I don't see why it wouldn't be okay. But then again, I'm not a mod, so I can't be 100% sure. If we are allowed, count me in!

Hmm..I;m only going by what the mods say.. Quote: No personal picture contests. This gets into a beauty contest and encourages people to vote for themselves waaaay too much
Although this contest is not about the individual I would say as it still contains photos that it is not allowed but one never knows.... |

But what if I was making a banner about, say, Ringers for a contest, and I wanted to use a picture of myself. Goodness knows that I'm not much to look at, but people might like the blending, colors, or overall design of the banner and vote for it anyway. That doesn't mean that it was in any way a beauty contest. I mean, would you vote for a banner just because it was of Johnny Depp if there was a better one in the running? I've always interpretted the rule as saying that we simply can't base a contest entirely on the looks of the individual. But, like I said, I defer to the mods on this.

I thought that meant like 'prettiness' contests or something comparing how people look ... sorry if i got that wrong mods

^WML is right ... we're only not allowed to have contests on look, i believe; beauty contests. But this is just the qualities of the banners, not at all based on someones appearance. |
