I felt the same way. Perhaps because the plot line in that book is a little more complicated. Make that alot.

For me it is finding time to read it. Some times it is a little hard to read let alond "keep up" with ever event and to memorize it.

To me I thought that LOTR was actually easy to get my head round. Esspecially compared to The Silmarillon. That nearly made me explode

Yea, it's easy to get your head around, but TTT wasn't as interesting to read and therefore dragged more than the other 2. In my opinion anyway.
As for the Sil, I think you have to be picky about which bits you read. There's so much information to take in. I think reading it in stages and not all as one book makes it easier.

Yeah, it is a little more difficult; except the first part, I really thought that was funny, with Aragorn and Legolas and Gimli debating a lot, and showing their feelings a little more even though they were always friendly to each other. You learn a lot about Legolas and his talents, too.

Was the second part the more Frodo-centric part?
Because (if it was) I second what you said, Telcontar. The second half seemed a longer read.
Overall though, I didn't find it any harder than RotK. FotR always seems easiest of the three. Tis my favourite to read, although I do like the first few chapters of TTT.
