Well, perhaps they DID talk in howls, or similar things. If you've ever lived for a long time with a dog, you'll know that they can make so many different sounds and variations of those sounds, it IS a kind of language.
But I'd imagine that the Wargs would have a far more cilvilized language, so to speak. Probably more somewhere between growling and Black Speech, which I think sounds an awful lot like growling! :P

I think that the Wargs were a mutation of th ewerewolves of th e1st age, that sauron had once been lord of. Also they did have a language and they were quite intelligent considering.

Everyone speaks of the fact that wargs and orcs co-operate rather than the fact wargs seem bound to the orcs. I don't understand, however, why the wargs allow the orcs to accompny them for certain attacks.
Is it because they all serve sauron.
But still, Wargs could easily dominate the orcs instead of allowing the orcs to take charge. If you notice all the evil groups seem to contain so much more tension that the groups of the forces of light, so why did the wargs decide not to put up a fight?

I strongly disagree.
I believe that the wargs look ferocious...they add to the tension and add to the thrill of the battle. I don't understand where such a concept could have derrived.

Back on topic...there's another thing i don't understand. How is it the Orcs first met and decided 'oh i'll get on your back' in reference to the Wargs.

"The word Warg used in The Hobbit and the L.R. for an evil breed of (demonic) wolves..." - 297 Drafts for a letter to 'Mr Rang'

It appears that 'Warg' is another name for a forocious breed of wolves. Fairly simple.

Were they a mutation in the same way that the Orcs are mutilated Elves?

Do they actually look like wolves? Or do they look like the way PJ interpreted it--like sorta dog-like/wolf-not-really? The wargs in the movie, although, totally believable, look way different from real wolves?

And in TFotR, there was a bit where the Fellowship had to fight a pack of wild wolves--are those wargs?

This is a cool topic 'cuz my favorite animals are wolves...

Lol yeeeah. Wolves rock. Im not too sure which scene you are reffering too? Are you talking about the books which i shamefully havent read? :(
Well i see a slight resemblence to wolves in the wargs to be honest. I think they were made out the way PJ interpreted thme as you have said but they are such fascinating creatueres, Im interested in finding out their history.

Haven't you read the books Frodo-guide? That is surprising. They are always a much greater source of reference than the films.

I agree that Weta and PJ did an awesome job on the wargs.

In the TFotR books, between leaving Rivendell and arriving at Moria, the Fellowship fights a pack of wild wolves. I'm just wondering if those are wargs or not.

The wolf attack on the entire Fellowship? It's in the books.

[You've got one wicked awesome avatar, Frodos-Guide!]
