I chose Legolas because

1. He's in the movie more and the book(?) haven't read it in a while
2. He's a wonderful fighter
3. He's just awesome

:-D

Okay, now I'm going to try to word this so I don't get attacked by anyone.

This isn't really a fair competition if we're going by just the books, because Legolas is a much bigger character than Haldir, as I believe someone mentioned earlier. So of course, Legolas is the obvious choice.

However, if we're discussing the movies as well, though Legolas is the bigger part, Haldir gets the sympathy points of him dying, and he gets the advantage of having more of a part. So if we're discussing the movies, I'd have to say Haldir.

If we're putting both the movie and the book into our choice, I can't choose.

Haldir is good, but I know more about Legolas...heard of him more so it is inevitable he would be my choice :D

I think I do like Haldir better when you combine both things. But I can't be sure.

Very unfair question! Two admirable characters and you want us to choose? Okay, before a choice could EVER even be attempted, you MUST define if you are referring to the film or the book.

Well this topic is in the Book Discussion section...

Um, lol, yeah. As Haldir pointed out, this is in the Literature section, so it is referring to the book. :P

*blinks* Good point. Then I'm afraid I'll say Legolas, as much as it makes me cringe.

(btw Aerandir, love the banner)

Well, while it is true that I neglected to notice that fact (duh!), several of the comments were talking about the films; thus, my confusion. So, it is an error on my part, but also an understandable one when one is reading the above entries and ones are referring to the films.

Since we are talking about the books, it has to be Legolas as he is a central character in the books and Haldir is not. However, this is not to diminish in any way the role that Haldir plays. Like I stated before, to choose one character over another in LOTR is a very difficult task!

It IS difficult... especially if you don't have a favourite and especially when both characters are good or both are bad :P

^Which is pretty close to my dilemma. I'm not exactly a fan of Legolas, but Haldir has practically no part to play in the books.
