Hello , I was wondering, what would be the ideal conditions for the Entwives to stay put so that the Ents could see them and or both of them could be together? I hope that makes sense

Like weather and climate conditions? Well, I'm not really sure, I don't think it's mentioned anywhere.

I thought maybe they could have a mixture of gardens and forests for them to come together, I don't know. Maybe you're right ~ weather and climate maybe a good factor. Well, I maybe I need to re-read the chapter to find out. . Thanks

Well, in the chapter "Treebeard", Treebeard states that the Entwives went away from the forest and made beautiful gardens. When the Entwives didn't come back to the forest the Ents went looking for them, and all they found was the land where the gardens used to be scarred and blackened by war.

Hello everyone . Thank you Elessar51 for the awesome information!
I see now why gardens and forests wouldn't work. I agree with Elwing_Star_Spray, it is very sad, one wishes as I do, that they could find a way to live together in harmony.

The story Elessar51 wrote is very good, and his summary says it all. I think that Tolkien left that mystery as much for himself as for readers; he didn't write Middle-Earth just to publish and gain from, he also wrote it for his own benefit! And who wants to have a ready explanation for everything in a story? We have our mysteries in the real world...and there are mysteries in Tolkien, too.

yeah, I definitely agree...
and it is very very sad...but I kind of like it that way - good stories should always have something that makes you cry.

Ya, I totally agree... I like stories without an end because everybody can imagine himself...

Personaly, I think that they were still around when treebeard was around.
Peole say they saw the entwives after there gardens were burned, which means that at least some survived the fire. That said, since they are pretty much the same race, (though some would say that the difference between male and femae is staggering,) that since treebeard and his kin are alive, so are the entwives.
Do you follow?

I don't agree with the fact that treebeard's kin was still really around, I think they were kind of their last line, so no i don't really follow.

There were still ents around. The whole pilliaging of Isengard was done by them. Sure, they were a dying race, but there were still some of them around.
And they were the last of there line. With no girl ents, its a bit hard to get baby ents
