In terms of the film the sheer scale of ROTK would proberbly shade it over the other two, but TTT was the best book for me

Although it's very hard to decide, my favourite book is fotr and my favourite movie is rotk.
I love all of them though!

Ahhh, I can't decide. Probably: Sil > Rotk > Hobbit > TTT > FotR

I dont' think any of them is worse or better than any other. Without one you have none.

Peace Out,
Tasare

Well I think of it like this. First of all the movies are all one. It is not LotR 1,2 and 3.

TTT is the middle part of the movie. No start, no ending. It is quite difficult to make a movie without these two things and be as good as the other 2.

Yeh I think TTT was probably bottom- FOTR is interesting because it's the start of the adventure and everything- and ROTK is good because theres a massive battle and its the conclusion and everthing- so TTT isnt left with much action really. And nothing much happens with Sam and Frodo in TTT except of course at the end with Shelob.

I'd rate Sil, the LotR trilogy (all the same...) and then the Hobbit... but the Sil is definetely my favourite ;)

TTT is just.... well the middle. We're all eager to see how it all starts and how it all ends.

That's a very good point. It's hard to create a complete and seperate plot when there's already a beginning and another story to come. The books didn't really have to worry about that much, since it was written all at the same time, but the movies had a big problem filling in for the people who didn't see FotR and completing the story, yet still leaving it in suspense for RotK.

of course they had this problem and I think it was one of the biggest problems, because the movie TTT is the most different one from the books..

Well, considering it was supposed to be, and can now be bought as, one grande epic, I just love the LotR, as one. Seperately, the TTT is my favourite book-it's the Rohirrim, what can I say? :D

that's true. I've also realised that I shouldn't make this difference, but since I've only known it as a trilogy, I still make this difference. I wish I could buy a one-volume LotR book.

Ooo! Yes! I want to do that too! I have a bad habit of losing each book....I've only recently found my RotK...*sigh* It would be so much easier to have one!
Anyways, The Two Towers was always my least favorite of the three, I suppose it was just the one in the middle, the one preparing for Return of the King......:p
