I know this sounds a wee bit off topic, but you know in the Two Tower movie, when the Elves come to Helms Deep? well I don't remember that happening in the book. did I just miss a bit, or did they just want to use pretty people for the battle? if i remember correctly, I thought thet ONLY two Elves came, AFTER the battle, or did I imagine that?

The only elf present for the battle of Helm's Deep was Legolas. Afterwards, The Dunedain, Elladan, and Elrohir met up with Theoden, Eomer, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Pippin, and Theoden's guard on their trip back from Isengard.

PJ just chose to put in the Elves.

I heard some where that the elves were added to Helms deep because PJ wanted there to be an alliance between elves and men. But in the book the elves could not come because they were fighting their own war against orcs at Lorien.

The only elf at Helms Deep was Legolas in the book. Like said above, PJ added some his own material. (Initialy it was supposed to be Arwen there instead of Haldir.... but they found out it just didnt fit)

I would be really mad if that happened. Really mad.

lol. u mean haldir? I love Craig Parker. He's cute. I think Pete added a nice touch with the elves. I'm glad they found Arwen didn't fit in the scene.

Arwen wasn't in The Two Towers book at all. So I wouldn't have been happy if she had been in the Helm's Deep scene. It doesn't really make sense at all that she would be in a battle... To me she just seems like a delicate flower type Elf that would shatter at the sight of an orc. *shrug*

Okay...Arwen...not fighting-like! Bah. You're right, I would be very angry. It's just not...right, you know?

Sorry for horrible grammar, it's how I speak when I'm being...uhh...emotionful? That's my word...

Well, lets look on the bright side.... it could had been Galadriel there also instead of Arwen if we consider PJ's inovative design...

Thank goodness none of this came true.

*tries to imagine Galadriel surfing down the stairs on a shield and firing off arrows**cant*

At least then the line :"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell." would make sense.

As a result, the last alliance is not the "last" alliance anymore

I liked the symolistic thing in the fact that the Elves came to help the Men, especially after Théoden said that they couldn't count on any help, not from Men, Dwarves or Elves, and when he was saying that, he looked so nasty at Legolas and Gimli...
