I'd have to agree with Ivy that I'm not sure if it's my favorite or not, but I've gotta say, it's sure got some amazing parts... our first "in-depth" look at Gollum, the introduction of Faramir, one of the noblest characters Tolkien created, and of course the cliffhanger to end all cliffhanger at the very end. :P

So much to love. :-D

Oh, I know it! And to think, we thought waiting for the movies was hard. :P

I can't imagine what it would be like to wait years in between books to know what would happen. Too nerve-racking

Wow, I have to tell ya why I hate the Two Towers ending. When I first read the trilogy I could not read ROTK for three weeks 'cause my sister was lending it out to someone. I was crying because I couldn't know the ending!

omg that must have been terrible. I couldn't imagine having to wait for the next book while reading the trilogy for the first time. I read it during a couple of days...

I like all the books because really Lord of the Rings (the way I see it) is one big book like others have stated. I had thought Tolkien wanted them to be one book but it would have been insane to sell it as one copy when it was first made. Also my copies of the books are all numbered like it's one book so at the beginning of my copy of Return of the King the first page is numbered 731.

All the books are amazing, but my personal favourite is ROTK. That was the best written battle scene I've ever read (Battle of Pelennor), and the Coming of the Grey Company to that battle was probably my favourite part in the trilogy
