trust me, you're not the only one... I do as well. There are SO many differences it's not even funny! But I'm glad PJ made a movie of it, though I wish he could have stuck to the book a little more.

There are major deviations, but then again there are also similarities. I mean there have to be don't they? But I think that some of the things done in the movies had to be done to make it more dramatic. The book in itself is dramatic, but books and movies don't always build up suspence in the same way.

drama is always included, sometimes too much. I like the book and the movie, but I agree that it could've stuck to the book more

Uhm yap, there are differences, obviously, I don't really think it's easy for a director to include every single detail a book may reflect. Take into account that reading a book is a personal experience, and each of us may have a different perspective of how the films should be. Anyway, I quite find similarities between both the book and the film. And well, maybe the major difference, even admitted by PJ, is the fact that some facts included in the third film actually take place in the second book, so... I don't know. I loved the books and I loved the films...I found nothing much about it. OK, I would have like the films to be identical to the books but the work that PJ and his crew did it's absolutely awesome :)

I think the movie is very loyal to the book. It would have been impossible to make such a long movie from a long book without making any differences. Both masterpieces, reading the book your fantasy runs endlessly, watching the movie is to touch your emotions concretely

I think that Boromir's final scene has been one of the top reasons I have felt better about the movies. It has made it easier for me to accept the movie versions of these books that I love.

In the death of Boromir, things happen in the movie that are alluded to in the book but have been fleshed out much more explicitly. It helps me to see more clearly—to feel more clearly—what was happening with Boromir. It adds a new dimension to the books and opens the door for discussion on the important character of Boromir much farther.

In depth and meaning it has got to be one of the best death scenes ever and added so much credibility to the movies for me.

I think the movie and the book have their similarities and their differences.
