I think that the love between Arwen and Aragorn was really true and strong through anything. I believe the reason why Aragorn liked Eowyn for a time was because that he pitied her for being so gloomy and sad that her cousin, father, and mother had died, and also because she was seeing her courageous and knightly uncle decentegrate from the once great man that he was. So I believe Aragorn and Arwen's relationship was the truest. But Eowyn and Faramir did make a very cute couple!(they were just meant to be together)

Aragorn and Arwen all the way! The go back real far and you can really seen the love between them. The are good together. Besides I think that Eowyn and Faramir make a better couple than Aragorn and Eowyn. *my opinion*

I agree with the people who said that, in some sense, Aragorn and Eowyn would've been better suited because of the case of equality. It's not just in the respect of valour and honour that they're equals, but also in understanding and experience.

Aragron and Eowyn are both humans. They understand human hardships in a way that Arwen never can and never will. They know the pain and hurt of wanting to be in a position yet being cast aside, and they know what it's like to not be accepted. Arwen has been accepted her whole life. I'm not saying she never felt pain, or any of it was her fault, but she's just in her own class which Aragorn would never be able to measure upto.

Aragorn fell in love with Arwen as soon as he saw her, but he fell in love with her physical beauty; he didn't know who she was. Arwen, in return, only falls in love with him after she sees his majesty in Lorien. Before that, she doesn't agree to the bonds of love.

And yet, after all this arguing, I don't think Aragorn and Eowyn would be happy as a couple. She loved more than his title, and most people don't give her credit for what she felt. The thing she loved in Aragorn was the mirror of herself she saw in him that allowed her to connect with him. If he had not that one aspect that was the essence of her, she wouldn't have given him another glance. The thing that bound Eowyn and Aragorn together was a love for freedom.

Some people are also forgetting Aragorn's perspective in this. Though he says he loves the Evenstar, he harbours very deep feelings for Eowyn which are on another level by themselves. He cares for her in a way that's not of a friend, a brother, or a lover. It's a completely different kind of love that can't be categorised.

My conclusion is that Eowyn and Aragorn could've lived a happy life, but neither of them would've gotten the freedom they've wanted their whole lives. The whole thing has little to do with Arwen and Faramir. Though many of the things Aragorn did were purely for Arwen, she was more to stabalise him during his Kingship and Faramir was there to stabalise Eowyn in a new environment which she had never experienced.

And now I go back to doing my homework...

Well, Tolkien did say that she had a desire to be queen and to be respected and to have her opinions listened to. The easiest way to that title was to marry Aragorn. I think she also liked how Aragorn did listen to her opinions and treated her as an equal. She did fall in love with Aragorn, but not as deeply as Arwen and Aragorn were in love.

Eowyn loves Aragorn only because he was a king. Arwen and Aragorn = real love :)

Eyowen and Aragorn would not have lived a very happy life together. both of them wanted the same thing and saw in each other something similer. that is why there was a sort of "connection" b/w them. there was never TRUE love b/w them. Eyowen loved his title and who he would soon become but not him. Aragorn felt something for her because she was lost and needed help.

Aragorn and Arwen are ment to be together becouse they need each other. both of them lack something in their lives and they can give each other what they need. their love is true and deep.

I'm not fan of Arwen/Aragorn, but of course they belong together. I think Éowyn just got a crush on Aragorn, besides she had not met Faramir yet :P

You have said it already Alassea. What Aragorn and Arwen were sharing was a real love. They both made a great sacrifice to love each other forever. As for Eowyn, she only loved his rank, honour, fighting, bravery vs he could not make her happy. Since what she loved the man in her imagination. So no still Arwen and Aragorn I say

I'm glad Arwen and Aragorn got married eventually, as it was the joining of the two "half-elven" bloodlines. Also, it was the only representation of the story of Beren and Luthien to be found in LOTR

Aragorn never loves Eowyn the way he loved Arwen. However, there must have been a strong platonic love for her. And if Eowyn married Aragorn what would have happened to Faramir?

You know what? It isn't Eowyn's fault that she falls in love w/ Aragorn! How is she supposed to know he's go a girlfriend? And who wouldn't fall in love with someone who calls you a "Shieldmaiden of Rohan," "daughter of kings", and says stuff like "I walked this earth long before you were born to grace it"????

The story of Aragorn and Arwen is the new version of the story of Beren and Luthien, one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever heard. Aragorna and Arwen were truly, deeply in love, and no one could change that. As everyone else said, they are made for each other.
It is hard for me not to feel bad for Eowyn though, because I've been in her situation before. I've had a crush on a guy who was taken and who I couldn't have before. And it made me completely miserable. So I did feel bad for her. then, in the end when she found Faramir, I was so happy for her. She and Faramir were a better match any way. And the story gave me hope. Even if I couldn't have the guy I wanted, that just meant that there was someone better for me out there.
I think it's best as Tolkien wrote it. The man knew what he was doing. Aragorn and Arwen. Eowyn and Faramir. Happily Ever After. The End.

^ What are you talking about? Erm....... not to be rude, but this is about Aragorn, Arwen, and Eowyn.
Are you talking about Frodo, Sam, and Gollum? Hmmm...... I don't know if I'd consider that a love triangle. And I really hate slash.
I'm so confused! Please explain!
