The "love triangle" I'm referring to is Aragorn, Arwen, and Eowyn. Do you think Eowyn would have made a better wife for Aragorn than Arwen? Or are you a die hard A/A fan? Just wanted to here your thoughts... :)

Personally, I think Aragorn and Arwen are perfect for eachother. Their story is one of true love. They both made sacrifices in their lives so that they could be together. Though they weren't together for long, their time spent together was a beautiful one shared with the kingdom of Gondor.

A/A all the way! I didn't even like Eowyn for a long time because I thought that Arwen should SO be Aragorn's wife. And you can see he loves her and she loves him!

I think Arwen and Aragorn are made for each other. They have known and loved eacho other for a long time though they hardly could be together. Their love is so pure and real.
Eowyn though is one of my favourite characters, she has strong feelings feelings for Aragorn but only of what he can become.

Wel Aragorn and Arwen go well but Aragorn and Eowyn would have gone well to, but she goes better with Faramir.

I think Eowyn could have married Aragorn and been somewhat happy (it's hard to tell, since it never happened)--but she mostly loved him for the power he could offer her. When she met Faramir, she realised that she wasn't so interested in power after all, so I think it worked out perfectly: Aragorn/Arwen and Eowyn/Faramir

I think ultimately A/A was the best, but a lot of the importance of their marriage was the symbolism. You know, the last union of elves and men. I'm not saying that them marrying was just symbol, I love their whole story, it's really touching.

But Eowyn would have been a better match for Aragorn. She is much more his equal in many respects. He and Arwen are very different, their best attributes are very different, and they don't 'equal' each other in most ways. Aragorn and Eowyn do equal each other in many ways; both brave, courageous and earned great valour in the battle field.

And I think it's really unfair that some of think Eowyn only liked Aragorn because of the 'power'. She was taken with him before she knew who he was. And she only met Faramir as she was getting of the fact that Aragorn did not love her too.

I think Aragorn and Arwen were right for each other, I just though I'd argue Eowyn's side, seeing as she's not getting much support :)

i completley disagree with darrell...i am almost sure that eowyn only loved aragorn because he was king, i think that she knew he was king before she was informed, because of how majestic he was...etc..

i could be wrong, i should probly re-read the novel to be sure....

I think i would also have to say That Arwen and Aragorn should stay the way they were.

The only reason (going by the book, not the movies) Eowyn ever really "loved" Aragorn was because she saw strength in him.
Aragorn was her ticket out of Rohan, into a large Kingdom. She saw opportunity in a relationship with Aragorn. May sound harsh and all, but that's all book Eowyn really wanted out of Aragorn.
Movie Eowyn was portrayed a little different, but I ultimately think Arwen and Aragorn deserve their amazing relationship.
Can you imagen if Aragorn had gone for Eowyn, yet Arwen stayed and waited for him? that would have been terrible! =P

I m a die hard A/A fan, they were made for each other! They sacrificed so much and went through so much to be with each other and no way is Eowyn going to stand in their way. Saying that though, I'm not totally against Eowyn, but i don't think her and Aragorn would have worked out. Eowyn loved Aragorn for his capability in battle and the way she knew him for the short time they spent together, she knew nothing of his past or who he really was. I personally think she and Fararmir are a much better suited couple. I think it is how it should be, besides, no one can stand in the way of true love.

It would be really hard to argue from Eowyn's side, mainly because the story was written as A/A. And the symbolism of their relationship is an important part. But I don't think Eowyn loved him only for his power. His strength, yes, but there are different kinds of strength.

It was that combined with a need to get out of Rohan, a place where she was "only the woman".

In the books, I loved Aragorn/Arwen. They were just...meant to be. But in the movies, I liked Eowyn/Aragorn better- probably because I didn't think Liv did that great of a job playing Arwen.

I never really read the books before I saw the movies....and the first time I ever saw FotR I wished there was more Arwen :) So I'd have to disagree. Any particular reason you feel she could've been better?

I'm not really a Arwen/Aragorn fan, but I accept it since Tolkien wanted them to be together. You can see in the books and the films that they truly love each other and even though Arwen would have sailed over the sea in RotK, I believe there would be no other woman in Aragorn life after her. Eowyn can't reach Arwen - and I'm not saying that only because I loath Eowyn (and that's probably just because I don't like the way Miranda Otto represented her).
However, I do not believe that Eowyn only loved Aragorn for his title. Perhaps it was like that at the beginning, but after the look she gave Aragorn as he returned to Helms Deep, you could see that it changed.
