Aragorn and Arwen. Definately.

I'm not saying that Eowyn didn't love Aragorn fully, but....she fell in love with the Warrior King side of him. He was the heir to an ancient kingdom, and she wanted to be a Queen. I don't think she fully realised that he didn't really care about being King, or knew that he loved Arwen. In short, I don't think those two together would have worked.

Arwen and Aragorn. Definately.

This seems to be an ongoing debate carried on in a number of places. I don't get it. Why do people think Eowyn and Aragorn should be together? They each ended up with who they were perfect for and happiest with in the end. Tokien knew exactly what he was doing when he wrote their stories. People need to understand that. Aragorn and Arwen and perfect together, and Eowyn and Faramir are perfect together. That's it. Plain and simple. No complicated reasoning or arguing necessary.

Arwen and Aragorn are so cute together. xP And I just LOVE the Éowyn/Faramir-pairing, even though I'm enormously jealous of Éowyn. I loved the end at Return of the King, Éowyn looked so happy there with Faramir at her side, I just "aaaw! :D". xD

I really wish they would have shown more of Eowyn and Faramir at the Houses of healing. I know they d in the Extended Edition, but I haven't seen the extended edition yet. :(I do think it's a wonderful pairing though.

" True that." Now there's a phrase I haven't heard in awhile.
Thank you again. It's something that I really don't understand. Why can't people see that it is perfect just as Tolkien wrote it? That they ended up with who they would be happiest with in the end? I don't really see where the debate comes in really. Aragorn was happy. Eowyn was happy. Arwen was happy. Faramir was happy. They were all happy. How can you argue with that?

I agree A/A are the one couple who deserve each other. Even though Arwen got the raw end, as she gave up immortality for Aragorn.
I also thought that Eowen and Faramir was a bit contrived, as it didn't take Eowen long to fall for him.
Also here's a thought, if Eowen and Aragorn had gotten together Eowen would have died first, leaving Aragorn alone...just a thought.

A thought it is, and an intriguing one. I think, however, that if Aragorn had married Eowyn, he would have probably died of grief and regret first. And if she had died before him, then he definitely would have regretted it.
About your comments on Eowyn and Faramir, I don't think she "feel for him" too fast. If you think about it in reali life, the first time your attracted to a person is because of their looks. Then, you don't love them, you just find them attractive. As you learn more about them, their personality, you grow to like them more and more. That's just what happened with Eowyn and Faramir. You have to remember that they spent every day together in the confines of a house and a garden for some weeks, with very little company other than each other. I think that's a sufficient amount of time to fall for someone, but that's just my humble opinion on the subject.

I could go along with that, as far as the amount of time Faramir, and Eowyn spent together. Still, I get the feeling that Tolkien felt that everybody needed to be paired off. The only exclusion would be Eomer.
Just MHO.

I think you're right about the pairing, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I think that Tokien just wanted resolution and closure for his story. He wanted us to see all the happily ever after. Also, it wasn't as though it was forced. He didn't just end up with a bunch of character at the end that he didn't know what to dow tih, so he paried them off. They went with the flow of the story, they seemed natural and perfectly correct.
We seem to be exchanging a lot of humble opinions lately. :P

Lots of opinions....a good thing. Pairing everyone off for closure? I never said it was a bad thing, just that out of all the "relationships" in the story that one seems (to me, at least) a little stilted.

I disagree with it being "stilted." I think however, that it probably appears feeble in comparison with Aragorn and Arwen's story. Actually, in the actual books, we know a lot more about Eowyn and Faramir's love story than we do Aragorn and Arwen's. Theirs doesn't come until the appendices. It does mirror the story of Beren and Luthien though, which is one of the most beautiful love stories ever told. So I think that Eowyn and Faramir have a hard time meauring up to that.

I agree, Arwen and Aragorn was perfect. Had he deserted her and married Eowyn, it would have shown weakness on his part, that he never really truly loved her in the first place.

And about the 'pairing off'...

Cliques are good sometimes. Really.
