You noticed too that all the horses should be grey? I did too. When Eomer gave the Hasufel to Aragorn in the movie, he was brown. But in the book he's a dark grey. And Shadow fax is grey too. And Asfaloth is pure white. Grrrr. Peter Jackson needs to get the horse colors right.....

When I first saw Rohan I thought it was quite nice. The typical fantasy kingdom. I like it a lot.

[font=Arial, sans-serif] I agree. Rohan seems to be free-spirited. Plus I love horses. ;)
And I secondly agree with you on the Eowyn part. I consider myself an independent women myself, and seeing Eowyn take a stand was just an "OMGYAY" moment for me. :)

Well it is not totally fantasy. Vikings were like this but instead of horses they had ships. Oh and I believe the Rohirrim were a little bit more elegant.

In fact, they are more alike unto the Anglo-Saxons, with of course horses :)

I really love the Rohirrim. It's mostly their country-vast open plains. I always like going through an open, grassy field - bereft of any (modern) human influence - and because of this, my calling, I enjoy Rohan and its people.

their theme song was nothing but brilliant, and though they did appear dirty and stuff they were nonetheless delightful!!! OH, expecially Eomer (ROCK ON). the horses are great too.

I love Rohan! Its one of the many culutural places that I love! Plus the people really know how to honor the horse, my favorite animal!

I just like the landscape, all these horses, and, as I said before, the wind and the freedom! If I could live in Middle Earth, I definitely would choose Rohan, Edoras!!! :closedeyes:

There's much I love about this land, but also the history of the Rohirrim with Eorl the Young, Brego, Aldor, ... I love reading the old stories about the old kings...

I love the Rohan symbols and heraldry. I love their Sunburst pattern, i draw it on all of my binders and papers ect ect ect. I also love thestyalized running horses. Those are very VERY cool.

The running horses n such I think tends to help reflect the old English culture. Also, the music that they play when in rohan ( on the movie) really helps me to make it more old english.Thats me, resurrecting this thread, and giving my opinion at the same time.
cool

Well, the symbols aren't the only things to reflect Old English things--since this is the literature forum, I won't cite the music as being reminiscent of it, but the Rohirric names all have very strong roots in Old English. For instance, Éomer was a name used at one point in Beowulf, and there are several other instances I have found, though I don't remember them all right now.

Anyways, just from reading the books it was very evident that Tolkien based them off of the Anglo-Saxons/Britons.
