I'm missing a search function on either the whole forum or the different boards.
Let's say I wanted to search for a thread I know exists and I remember part of the topic title and were able to search for it instead of browsing through 10 pages to find it. Or I want to check if a thread already exists on a topic I want to post...

I think I've seen it on other forums... not sure though...

Thanks

Well, we do have that Ea. You can simply go to SEARCH [found at the navigation bar at the top of the forum] and put in the bit of the topic you remember in the first option space [which is for threads -- the second is for authors/members].

To further the accuracy of the search, you can also go to the second section of the search and select which forum you want to search in and there are several other options you can use in trying to search for the thread.

I hope that helped, if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.

Oohh... oh... how very conveniently smart!
Wow, that's really practical... umm... it might in fact have been on this forum I saw the search engine... I just never needed it before.
But thanks Kit!

...and by the way I found the thread I was looking for!

Umm [almighty] Kitoky...
*feels rather silly for asking another probably very obvious question*
I was wondering if there's a way to search for a specific page on a thread. Let's say a thread has 200 pages and you need to find something around page 100... Can I jump directly to it?

There's no real efficient way to go to certain pages of a list of posts like for threads or the memberlist but the closest thing we have is at the bottom of every thread there's a....

Display posts from previous: [ All Posts ] -- [ Oldest First ] [ GO ]

option. However, you generally have to guesstimate how long ago the post or page was used to post, with this you can atleast narrow down the list of pages to get to the page you want or estimately want. Say you take the 200 pages and you want to look for page 100, guesstimating that the thread had been open for say...6 months. And accumulating 200 posts in a 6 month range, in the All Posts option - you select 3 Months. This now brings the thread up but only giving all you the pages and posts that it had accumulated in the last three months. This should bring out around 100 pages of posts, but you do have to search a bit.

Hope that helped!

Noooo Kit... I wanted you to conjure up a magic bottom I could press and Voila there was the page I needed to find. I expected you to be able to do anything with your mighty mod-powers! LOL

Anyway, thank you for taking time to explain this... will try it out later.

Well when I was interviewed about my suggestion to the forum, they replied with a letter containing words like laziness and superior and dysfunctional and I haven't quite figured what they've meant by that.....

But I'm glad I could help -some-.
