Well, it shows you're active, you become more well-known the more you post, and it's almost a rank of your honor for some people. You know, the idea that they give more to the forum than others. *shrugs* I'm not obsessed with my post number, but I do care about it.

that makes those peopel sound very pompous ... but you can get more posts by just being more active in more threads, right? if you post more in other threads ... you dont need to make your own little one to get posts ... cuz that would be pretty pathetic.

But is a forum created for a small group of people to have small talk or be random? I think it's for discussion on specific topics. And yes, we do have random silly games, so those are an exeption. But I think that random conversation, that needs to exist between a small sepcific group of people, should be held outside of the forum. Anyway, not that these threads are purposely made to exclude, but should every thread be open for every member to contribute to?
Just as a note, I'm only contributing to the discussion of this thread, not insisting that what I say become rule.

yeah... but others CAN post on those individual threads, but its just that theyre there because people want to talk to each other and not fly off topic, or get confused by other conversations going around them

I think it would be fun to have family threads tho. Cuz then we could talk too our family. And when you do it through PM's or IM's you can only talk to one person at once. And in the chat room,.. Everyone who gets on the site is watching. Not just other forum members

too true ... maybe we shuldnt have group threads with three people, but we can have like a family thread with our 'immediate' family sort of thing .. like a huge family discussion thread? there wouldnt be too many of those, as opposed to individual threads.
