Good day everyone. My name is tindomerel, tin for short for those I've not met. Which I admit is a great deal as this forum grows more everyday. However, I am so happy to know those I've gotten close to. I"m so thankful that Arwen thought up this great site and all it's treasures from the chat to the awesome galleries, the elvish, to the forum and everything in between.

Lately, I've noticed lots of "constructive criticism" about the Forum. Some of which I agree with and some I don't, but hey that's my opinion, right? Anyway, this post isn't about criticism, so please, Don't bring it here. However, one thing I haven't seen much of, is encouragement. Now, I am so NOT trying to beg praise for anyone, but just share my feelings. I'm tired and saddened at times, that people seem to take so much time to tear one another down, to suggest insult....and yet where are the joys, the happy thoughts, the good things? I'm so guilty of this but, I think we all too often pay more notice to things we want different, than to those things we're really greatful for, but take for granted at times.

So here are my joys and happiness regarding this place, and I really have a lot so please, also forgive me for being lengthy.

I am so thankful, as I already said, to Arwen. She has built this site from nothing, and look where it is now? Isn't it amazing and awesome to have such a forum, chat, etc to participate in? I think so...I've met some great people here, people from all ages, walks of life, and locations. I've grown as a person by being here. I've learned oodles more about Tolkien, but also about life, about other's hardhips and victories. For that, thank you Arwen. Also, thank you for not letting the site go stale, with no changes at all...so many sites boom and grow rapidly then fade, not so with your site. It continues to change and grow, but always hold the core the same. I love coming to the site and seeing a new poll to vote in, a new layout or other update, again thank you.

I'm also greatful to have the opportunity to mod with all of the other moderators. They're also of various ages and locations., and once I got to know many of them, I was amazed. You have no idea how busy some of them are, what sacrifices they make and how hard they work at times. Everyone of you moderators has done an incredible job. Yes, I know someone will suggest that you, me, any mod can be fallible and make mistakes, yeah...and none of you have ever claimed to be perfect, what makes you stand out to me, is your heart. So many mods and members of this site have the biggest hearts. Back to the mods: You try, you do everything you can and know how to in spite of technology issues, time constraints and more. Between working, going to classes, dealing with family issues and stresses, you people hold it together to do what you can to keep this site going, so to you also...a huge Thank you!

Finally, to the many, many members of this site, thank you, too. Everytime I read posts on the Forum, I find more people with great hearts, great minds, and senses of humor. I've met some of you, though I haven't had much time to the forum of late. I hope to meet more of you and be around more as time allows. But, no matter if we're best friends, acquaintances, or strangers. I like reading what you have to say, I like comparing other's opinions about the LotR to my own. You make me think, you make me smile, and you can also make me laugh. So, thank you. This site wouldn't be what it is without all of you.

Well, thank you too everyone once more. :) I'm so glad to be a part of this Forum, of a love for LotR, and this community. Thank you.

Sincerely,

~tin

You said it all tin! I'm ever so thankful I found AU in general, it has helped me meet so many new people and friends. I don't know what I'd be doing without this place. I never get bored here, because I've always got friends around to talk to and have discussions with. So my thank you goes to Arwen the wonderful webmissy for creating this wonderful forum for us wonderful people to hang out in and discuss the wondrousness of LotR.

So many wonderfuls here... I love it. :P

Well said tin. I think every one of us owes an awful lot to Arwen. I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't stumbled across this site, what is a little under 8 and a half months ago now. I've met so many wonderful people here, and had a fantastic time, which i am certain will continue.

And the Mods deserve thanks too. I know that often their job doesn't make them the most popular figures with some members, but without them, this place couldn't thrive like it does.

And for me it has provided somewhere for my geekhood to increase and grow. Before, I had no one to discuss the wonders of LotR with, but now I have many enthusiasts to talk with, each of them with their own take on the tales, and knowledge of things I didn't know.

So, I offer many, many, many, thanks to Arwen, our webmiss, for creating somewhere as magical as this. I think three cheers is in order... *cheers*

[And we must thank Tolkien for providing the inspiration behind so much of this]

Yes, yes, I forgot all about Tolkien. He deserves much more thanks than we can give him for spending his life devoted to the fantasy world we love.

And I forgot the moddies too! *slaps own hand* I know us members can be a pain in the rear, and give you trouble that you don't really need, but deep down we love you guys to bits. You help keep this forum clean, and alive for everyone of all ages, and I thank you. Even though the members had to sacrifice [and the mods too] for the good of the forum everything turned out okay. Thank you wonderful moddies!!!

-adds more thank you's- :) Thank you both for your comments, and thank you everyone for your votes. It's so great to see people here have things in common, friendships grow, and the love for LotR and Tolkien grow too, in so many areas.

Yes, I'm so greatful for this forum and site! :) I'd like to thank Arwen, first of all, for making the site/forum grow and keeping at it. I know it's really hard to keep up a site, especially a HUGE one like this, so I'm very thankful that Arwen spends her time and money for us  :)

Also, the mods are great! :) They keep the forum under control and they are all very nice people :)

And of course, like Darrel said, I'm very glad to be here to let my 'geeky' side grow. None of my RL friends like LotR as much as I, so being here is very, very refreshing :) :) I'd also like to thank all the members, because if this forum had a munch of mean people, it definitely wouldn't be the same. I've made a lot of good friends here :)

And finally, we all must thank Tolkien for the ideas. He seems like such an awesome person. I really wish I could've met him. :)

Thanks everyone!

~Gil

I voted "All of the above."

I love AU for starters, little gets me annoyed on here and the most annoyed I get is when people don't use speech marks in RPs or the forum goes to "page cannot be displayed."

I've been here nearly 6 months (on the 16th of August that will be my 6 month anniversary) I know that so many people have been here for so much longer but to me 6 months is a long time. We see people every day joining and let's face it, a large percentage never come back again or even post the first time. We welcome them, give them advice, smile (:)) at them but still there are a few who don't return.

I don't know anyone on AU in real life although I found someone on here that lives 7 miles away from where I do. Small world Eh? But that's what makes AU special, we make friendships, we trust people, we have very complicated families and we all get on. I can count on one hand how many people I've had an disagreement with and I can tell you now, it's less than 5.

And who do we have to thank? Arwen and our Moddie team. Arwen and our Moddie team who work up front and in the background to try their very best to make AU a safe, happy and fun place. Everyone has a moan about them sometimes, I cannot say that I have never complained or felt irritated by a mod but everything they do is done for us, to make sure that we're safe and happy. They put up with a lot of flack from us but do they walk out? Do they get in a huff and stomp their feet and run off? No they stick by us, every single one of us and whether we like it or not they're all here for good. (Sorry if that sounded in any way mean, it was unintentional. I mean it in a good way! *Huggles Arwen and Moddies*)

So, that's my little speech :speech: over. AU drives my mum and dad mad, they can't undertand what the facination is but I know that if I left that a BIG part of my life would be missing. I'd miss my friends, my family and the general discussions we have.

Right, I'm going now. I leave with warm wishes, general thanks and great big hugs for everyone. You're all truly fabulous people. :notworthy:

I am so happy that I found A-U! I can't even begin to type down all of the reasons that this place is great, because I would be here forever. Maybe it's enough to know that I love it though, without stating the reason.
It's true that there has been a lot of criticism and not a lot of praise, which is really not fair. Yes, A-U is not perfect, but then, nothing is perfect. Perfection is impossible for people (or websites). And for every tiny thing wrong, there are a least a trillion things right here.
I love talking to people and making new friends. I love being able to come here and discuss LOTR and hear other people's take on my thoughts, and listen to their own. I love laughing at what other people have said, or crying sometimes when we're talking about something sad. I even love having the mods around. Every mod I've ever seen so far has been really nice. Yes, they enforce the rules. But they have to, to keep A-U the wonderful place it is for LOTR fans, or anybody else to come and talk. People should realize that. Maybe they wouldn't be so hard on the mods then. I love discussing the things I love with other people who share my love for them. A-U is a wonderful place, and I am so glada I joined here! :)
Keep up the good work!
