Well, since I was quite confuzzled at first, I read through all of the posts that were made today in this thread, which took me a long time! And what I'd like to do first is give huggles to all of my moddies and Arwen! You guys are really awesome, and really care about this forum. Thanks for listening to our please of rank change! I really appreciate it! I see I've dropped a few thousand in my posts, which is a surprise, but it's nice to feel that I have something to reach and be proud to. So thank you!

Secondly, I have this itchy feeling all over that I have a reason to apologize. Seeing that I'm now at about 2,000 posts, It makes me realize how much I've posted in Misc. Randomness (though many were also from the old WT thread). I didn't realize it, and now I feel like a member who hasn't contributed to real discussions.
But I shall do my best to redeem myself!


Well my fellow members, this is quite a change, and I can tell it's freaked us out a bit. But I'd just like to say that the A-U staff works hard to make this site a better place to be. They're not out to get us, and I'm sure would not want anyone leaving because of this. I hightly encourage members to stay around, even if it means loosing almost all of your posts.

Tootles all, I now leave with knowledge and not confuzzledness -- my quest to this thread was successful! (<<oh snap, I never can spell that word )

Thanks everyone for your understanding and support. Sometimes things must be slightly uncomfortable or unfamiliar in order to make real (positive) changes possible. And thank you for recognising that we are working hard, and we are flawed human beings just like the rest of you. We are all of varying ages, so chances are at least one of us is very close to your own age. I could be the girl that sits behind you in your math class.

We aren't here to punish, oppress, or babysit. We are merely here to maintain order and make things better for the body of members as a whole (even if it means that we aren't serving YOU particularly, the exact way you want). We realize that our decisions cannot possibly make every member perfectly happy, because there are 1731 of you. If you are part of a family (especially if it is a large one) you will know that sometimes sacrifices must be made by the individual in order to benefit the family as a whole. My point is, please remember to be flexible and patient, because at A-U we want to be a family.

Please listen before throwing fits and telling us about how we don't listen to anyone. I think you forget that we as mods, admins, etc., <i>are members, too</i>. Have you listened to what I've said? MY post count dropped by more than 2000. I lost over half my posts. Do you think I'm happy about that? No. I've been guilty of posting lots of one-word stuff just to move up in the top posters rankings. There, I admitted it.

Now, take a look at the rules. We have rules about things being on-topic. We have rules about not completely reiterating what other posters have said. This isn't in the rules, but I'm sure the moddies have said hundreds of times, please do not post one-word things.

Now, I love the Miscellaneous Randomness section. The games are awesome and fun to play. But do they have specific topics? No. Do they consist of mostly one-word posts? Yes. Do a lot of people use them to move up in the rankings? Yes again.

I have no problem with the section. But this is a FORUM, not a chat room. It is, above all things, a discussion forum. We are trying to encourage actual discussions of things. Please don't abandon Misc. Randomness just because your posts won't count there anymore. But please also venture into other sections that are intended to discuss subjects in depth. <i>Ignore your post count.</i> Think quality, not quantity.

Now, about your post counts going down insanely. Could you please read Elanor's multiple posts about this before assuming that we're out to get you? The modification I used to make posts in Misc. Randomness not count has a few flaws. One is that when entire threads in Misc. Randomness are deleted, they'll be subtracted from users' post counts. This is a flaw indeed, I understand! But all I have to do is resynch the post counts, which I have just done, and everything will be back to normal. However, I was GONE this afternoon. Please give the mods and me space before deciding that we're an evil dictatorship.

How can you say we don't take input from members? This thread stretched for about 6 pages or so with ideas members had for new ranks. Everyone who posted was in agreement that we should have new and more ranks. I never saw anyone disagree about this. If you did, we would have appreciated posts about the subject. If you never post your disagreement, you can't expect us to read your mind.

We also took into account the topic about the Miscellaneous Randomness section that Beri started. True, we had discussed the possibility of making posts there not count before, but with member support, we decided to go ahead. I thought we had agreement from most people--didn't you tell us that you thought posts in that section were mostly random and not worth much?

We are not dictators. We listen to members. We try to make decisions that will positively impact members. Obviously not all members can be moderators and implement changes, but we hope that you will trust that we're trying to help YOU and not help ourselves.

Everyone hates change to some extent. When we switched forums, we got a lot of complaints. Whenever I switch layouts, I get everyone on the tag telling me how much they liked the other one better. And then within a few weeks, people get used to it and recall the old days and (usually) decide that the changes were for the best.

Please, please give change a chance. We're not out to get you.

And please, please PM the <i>A-U Moderator</i> account (or one of the mods) about concerns you have. They will pass the comments by me, usually, and as a team, they have a lot more time to respond to your comments than I do.

(And again, please don't start jumping to completely unfounded assumptions. Where do you get the idea that we're out to delete all your posts and set you back to 0 or 1 posts each, or that we'll subtract Arwen-bashing posts, or that I'm a monarch? Heck, I've been gone just for an afternoon and already this thread has stretched several pages full of assumptions and attacks. Give me a chance, people!)

Oh don't worry, I'm well aware that you were speaking to Arwen. I just feel that what how you reacted and how much you've expressed your grievances without considering Arwen's position... I think should be given an equal and opposite apology.

I believe Kit was rather mentioning that the mods might have deserved an apology, too? All anyone is asking is to try to have a little understanding, not jump to conclusions, and not attack people without any evidence.

Here. I hereby apologize to any members who have been hurt by losing so many posts. I realize it's hard to see your post count go down after you've spent so much time working, and I'm sorry that it was so sudden, and for the flaw in the system that made your post counts drop so drastically today. I also apologize <i>for the sarcasm in my previous post</i>, and hope that no one took offense.
