Yes, I do that on MSN as well. I've never used the 'hidden' status on A-U though; never felt the need.

I'm not a hidden AU member because I have a few people who come and talk to me often, if they're feeling down or life at home is bad then they PM me. If I was hidden, they'd think I wasn't on, or that I was hiding from them - which I don't want.

Occasionally I hide on MSN because:
a) I am watching a DVD/Playing a game and don't want people to send me messages, whic I don't see and for them to think that I'm ignoring them.
b) If I'm coming online for a matter of minutes, I don't want people to start a conversation and then for me to have to say 'hello, can't talk, bye' because I might take that - if I were them - as a bog-off-I-don't-want-to-talk-to-you sign.

But generally I'm here, there and everywhere for the world to see.

I've got to stop these rant-like posts, I'm doing them more and more.

I only hide on A-U when I have an argument with ASR and can't bear to talk to her (which is very frequently!)

Mhhmm.. I'm not classed under 'hidden', right now.. but I have used it in the past...
That was because I was being stalked by a very creepy person, on here... she.. she said she was a female... kept asking me randomly personal things, and telling me very, very inappropriate things. I'm not prude, but I barely knew her, and she just said really strange things... I know she was banned, since then... and I also know that she's rejoined.. she actually told me.
But, I stopped even reading her PM's, and she left me alone.

^Oh goodness, yes! Do tell someone, we don't need those kinds of people on here.

I know that only recently I've started using the "Hidden" feature just so I won't get bombarded with PMs whilst I'm trying to post. I do get PMs from the people who can figure out that I'm on, but other than that I don't think I've received any otherwise. It's rather nice.
