They're turned to "guest" posts ... but I think that the Mods should delete all the members with "0" posts first, then the inactive members should be sent an e-mail or something saying that if they don't post in a certain amount of time, their account will be deleted?

I don't think we're planning on deleting anybody who's posted (besides the spamming, non-human posters)... just the ones who joined a long time ago and never posted...

^That is the plan of action I would take. As I said, if they've posted, they have contributed. Just get rid of the people who haven't posted at all after a certain amount of time.

Yeah that's a good idea .. and like a Mod said on the first page, it's not all that hard for them to create a new account if they really care to post here.

I agree. 35% of the members inactive: that's shocking...

I think those people should be deleted - never mind sending them an email. They have probably forgotten they even joined so why should the Mods spend time sending out emails. People who have posted once or twice - but not in the last 6 months should also get deleted. If these people choose to disappear off the face of the earth that is there choice. People who have posted 10 times or more but not within the last six months should probably be emailed and reminded.
I completely agree with that. If some people've never posted once, I think that we should assume that they don't really want to participate here. There may be some special cases, such as a computer crashing or an internet malfunction where the internet doesn't work at all. . .but I agree that if the members haven't posted in approximentally (sp?) two years they should be deleated.

*Has stumbled across this thread*
Yes, I absolutely agree with everyone. It's not fair for people to come on, take a username and never post. A frequent member may want that particular name and then it isn't avaliable for them to use.
It happened to me once with a girl named 'Aramel' and she hasn't posted since August 2005 or something like that and she only has four posts. FOUR!!

umm...first of all, I do believe this issue has been settled already. As others have posted...we mods are only deleting/ only deleted "members" who're either spammers and thus evil, or names taking up space with a count of Zero..yep 0, posts. We will not delete people at this point who have posts. As some of us know, there are members who've lost internet access, are in the process of moving, or have computer troubles and can't be here constantly. Therefore, we've only deleted the afore mentioned sorts. I personally went through the first 35 pages of members and deleted folks from Feb of 2005 through October of the same year, who'd never posted a single time...it amounted to approximately 80 members, but cleaned up our member list tremendously and has freed up a few names. We're still cleaning some of the inactive ones out as time allows but that should be through soon. Also, no their posts do not turn to guest posts if a member is deleted, their posts also disappear in most instances, kinda like erasing a document in your computer, if the title goes, so does the information with it. Hope that helps clear things up!

Its disturbing when you come across members joining up to advertise swingers o_O
I have seen so many advertising accounts on shoes, gambling and online dating, soo many people, so many zero posts from 2005 to delete
Free'd up some pretty names today.

^On the very top of the page, right under the top banner is the member list... next to FAQ, Search Rules and other useful features!!
You can search for members on Joined Date, username, total posts and a few more options

*bump*
Perhaps this should be done again? I look at the memberlist and I see loads of good names that are taken up by members that have never posted before in months.

... I know that a mod PMed me about this, but it was quickly taken by a member (with currently 0 posts!! ) before I could even think.
