Don't worry wonderful members of A-U, the mods are reading your suggestions and will do what we can to ~*spark*~ some new interest in some sections. For my part, I'm trying to come up with some new discussion questions to post in the book section...sooo come on over and help me with your opinions, please. :) I will only do a couple for now and see how it goes....life is busy as you know, I'm sure. Then maybe if you have discussion ideas, pm them to me or post them yourself! We'll see what obscure or new topics we can find. Or what about a Q & A on each section of the book? I don't know, I'm still pondering ideas....Let me know what you think.

Larael I'm glad we seem to agree. And I do appreciate the discussions we already have on the Tolkien boards. Arwen and the mods started the Tolkien Revival and now I think we, the members, must carry it on. A simple thing like starting this thread helped a lot to make us all aware of the problem, just take a look at how many replies you got! The interest is certainly still there, but for my part I think I needed this discussion to be aware that other people felt the same, missed the lively discussions on the LotR-related boards. So we will just keep posting there, start new topics, add new perspectives on old discussions, meet and enjoy ourselves. I'm sure that it could soon become a self-perpetuating process. When we get new discussions going, we'll be inspired to start new topics and thus attract new people to the boards, who in turn will post new topics and new ideas!
We can do it, long live Tolkien!

JF Thank you for understanding. I simply used you as an example because you had posted here, and afterwards I actually did feel bad about it.
I know how boards I've never been to can seem overwhelming in the beginning because I have no clue where to start. I felt the same way when I first came to A-U. But many of the threads in the book section go behind the characters and the history that is the whole background for LotR and Middle-earth, so perhaps you'd find something you could be interested in, like whether orcs originally were elves or about Arwen's Choice etc. which are topics also touched on in the movies.
We would love to have you dropping by once in a while! :-D

Tin thank you for posting here, it would be great if you started some new topics.

As I mentioned I did have a couple of things in mind I would like other people's opinion on, but I wasn't sure the subject hadn't been brought up before ,and also I sort of like to keep up with new threads when I start then, like "nurse" them a bit and reply to peoples responses, and I wasn't sure how much time I'd have to do that since I'm quite busy at the moment...

*realizes she is rambling a long post again*
Ermm... I think that was all for now...
And thank you all you wonderful people for... being here, reading this and discuss it with me.

EDIT: Owh, you already did start new threads tin, how efficient you are... thank you! :)

^ I think posting new threads there is the best idea yet! And I will most definitely be honoring you with a few of my opinions tin. ;) Q&A about the books is also a good idea. A lot of people have questions about the books, things they didn't understand, so that would be ideal for them to be able to have their questions answered.
I have a another idea that we could do or not do, because they could mean more work, and people might or moght not want to do them. What do you guys think about occasional tournaments with trivia? We could do it for the books and the movies. It's just a suggestion, but I think it would really help people to start posting in those sections again. There's nothing like a little friendly competition to get people involved. :)
Larael, as Ea said, thanks for bringing this up. It's something I've been noticing for a long time, but I just needed to know I wasn't the only one who thought it.
I think everythings going to work out now though. With a bunch of the members and a few moddies working on it, I think we'll definitely be ok.
So thank you to Larael, the mods, and everybody else who helped with this! I'm excited about having new things to post in.
Oh. And please do let me know what you guys think about my idea!
:)

I'm sorry I haven't responded to your post T.T, now that summer is definately over, life is getting busy again... it takes time to get around to everything on this huge forum... *smiles apologetically*

I think a trivia or a tournament is a great idea. But I don't think the mods necessarily have to be in charge of it... as we concluded in other threads, they actually claim to be human and to have a real life as well. So if they can't find the time to do it, I suggest that we set up a group (thread actually) of interested people on the relevant board and then they can organize the trivia and run it accordingly. Like posting a daily question or 10 questions weekly or something and gather the answers on PM or how ever they choose to orginaze it. They might need a contact person from the moderator team to sticky or edit and get coffee and the like (lol) but I'm sure that will be no problem.

As I mentioned I don't have time for it at the moment, but if anyone has a bit of time and is interested, I think it could be fun!

I know what you mean! Geez! I'd forgoten all about this thread until now!
It would be a lot of extra wor for the mods, so they don't have to be involved, except as you said one to Sticky it or be the contact person and get coffee (LOL. I like your sense of humor Ea.) The mods are definitely bust enough already, so i don't think we need to burden them further.
If there are people interested, I think it's a good idea. If not, I think we can forget about it. I don't know if I'll have time to actually run the thread(s) since classes have started again, but I could participate if it was started and tun by someone who was not me. This is the part where the mods become frustrated because we have ideas, but are cluless about how to carry them out.
I think Ea's idea is a very good one though and that it should be carried out. It would be fun, and probably get people posting in those forums again. So............... I guess the questions remain of: 1. Are people interested in doing this? 2. If they are, how do we get it to work?

Well as for your first question. I think we could leave it open here to get other responses and input and then you could open a thread in either the book, movie or Misc. LotR section and call for people interested in making trivia questions. I think it's a good idea if there are several people involved, that way it becomes a fun and more attarctive even to people who just want to contribute with a few questions. However I think the group need to have at least one or two people "in charge" of it if possible.
As for your next question. The trivia group could either have everyone PM the questions to one person or have an open thread for the incoming questions (or perhaps the answers), but as I mentioned in my previos post it's pretty much up to the trivia group how they choose to organize it!
