Do you think Arwen will set up some? I'd love to join usergroups!

Thing is, I don't have my own site :(

I hope so. But I still don't understand quite well the whole thing. Why do you have to have a website?

*reviving old thread*

Seeing as the forum is growing to enormous dimensions and people are complaining how anonymous things have become, because everyone is scattered all over the place, perhaps now is the time where the Usergroups should enter the stage.

The A-U family tree did a good job at some point when it was still alive and active in uniting groups of people, but keeping it updated is pretty much a full-time job.
Wouldn't Usergroups be easier to administrate because they pretty much run themselves once they are up?

Lovely job to update this.
I agree, it's becoming hectic! We have not only new members everyday, but hyperactive new members, Usergroups would be so awsome at this point.

But hey, it's a big project no one is rushing anything.
:-)

We'll consider this, of course, but there's so much going on right now you'll all have to be patient--we probably won't get to discussing this until after New Years. No Promises!

I agree, though, it IS a good idea.

Thank you Ivreniel. It's a busy time for all of us, so I understand. I just wanted to bring it up for a suggestion to see what people think of it. I don't know how usergroups work, never was a member of CoE. Perhaps they require more work than I thought, at least in setting them up, so just take your time :-)

^Hmmm, there's an idea...*ponders* That'd be a good way to keep in touch with one's family...

I think the family tree usergroups idea is good, and I like the idea of different usergroups based on races. If usergroups were created, would you get to choose what groups you wanted to be in, or would Arwen or the moddies? Just wondering.

I think it would depend. If you did something like Family Tree, it would depend whose family you were/are in. If you did areas of middle earth (like Shire, Gondor, Rohan, Elvendom on Earth, Moria) it might help to have a little quiz (you belong in the Shire if---(1) you love food (2)you are almost unquenchably happy (3)you love giving and getting gifts etc)

Will the family tree ever officially open up again?
I was never part of it, and it seems to get more and more confusing and almost imposible to keep updated. But the idea of having smaller communities is still good. Different realms sounds like a good idea sort of like on Council of Elrond. What should the activities be like in the realms? And how do the usergroups work? Is it like a sub-forum, like a smaller message board? Or something completely different?

I like the idea of having different Realms.. but what if all your family members are in different ones? Wouldn't that get really messy? :erm:

Personally, I barely have any idea who's in my family, 'cept for mother (antigone) and two of my sisters (haldy, dearest, and miluiel legolas is mine), so family usergroups doesn't really sound like the greatest idea to me. however, realms sounds wonderful :D

I'd like either. I'm not in a family but I want to be (kinda, I hear its confusing) but either would be great for getting a biiiig group of people into smaller groups. ^^ there's my 2 cents.
