Yeah, now it's Eä's turn to play with peoples minds.... or learn to check her posts for coherence... *cough*

The fourth category is Lothlorien Award (Best Graphics).

Kit I'm going to PM you the four ties.
How about we have the polls open for 9-10 days, so we cover another weekend.

Thain-y:: Good job with the list. I'm glad we have a good variety of people winning. :-)

Uh... Kit and Ea, you're both rather confusing. :P Most Lyal listed twice? There are 3 ties (Most Loyal, Best Graphics, Most into Something other then LotR) and then Ea suggested putting up a "tie breaker" for the Funniest Member, because there were so many options, and the votes were so close. Is that the confsuing thing here? Did Ea explain it? And should I just shut up and stop confusing everybody, including myself? :teehee:

Polls staying open for that length sound great. Should someone PM Aliana and just give her a heads up so she knows the awards will be needed soon? I can do that if needed... tonight. :)

I just added 'confusing' to my name.. look, can't you see it? I wrote it in invisible ink. :teehee:
People should stop reading my posts and just read my mind.. it was all pretty clear in my head.

TT:: I PM'ed Kit the exact same list of tie-breakers that you got. I still think it's most fair to have another poll on the Funniest Member... only 1 vote seperated the two people with most votes. :-)
Any objections? Speak now or forever hold thy peace! Okay, not really, but I've always wanted to say that!! :P

 It's hard to say, Ea. Invisibly ink really makes you strain your eyes. :P Meh... you're not THAT confusing. TT's more so.

Okay. Perfect. Now we must wait... ;) Sounds fine to me, really. I honestly don't care one way or the other.

What line are you drawing for ties? Are you taking the top two with close vote counts?

Because I know some "ties" only have a difference of 1 vote, but one could argue that some categories only have a difference of 2-3 votes and could call for a re-poll for those too, so I don't know if we can "get away" with taking certain categories with just one vote difference to call re-poll.

We should take the top two no matter what from each category and do a re-vote... but that's just my opinion... =)

Even when one person pulls a landslide? Now ---that's--- very politic.

And I'm not going to open a "tie-break" for all the member awards again.

What has always happened was that only the legitimate ties.

18 votes and 18 votes.
8 votes and 8 votes.

are put up for a tie-break.

Well when you put it like....thaaaat.... I see your point ha... needless to say I didn't think about landslides.

I'm not good with politics and fairness...

Most Loyal LotR fan and Most Into Something Other than LotR are clear ties with two people having an equal number of votes.

In Best Graphics two people got the majority votes (15 and 14) and the third person got 3 votes. I think this falls under the category of landslide and since two people pulled that, they deserve a final poll.

In Funniest Member the two people with the most votes got 7 and 6 votes respectively, and I think it would be fair to do a re-poll for them too.

That's my opinion on it, but if you all want to go with final polls for only the two tie-breakers that's fine with me. :-) Whatever we decide on, I think we should add it under the 'guidelines' for MA's so we get some sort of continuity for future MA's.

So confused. So nevermind me...

I think something should be worked out for the future, though... and we should get these polls up soon, I think. Since Kit's got to start the SS soon...

Woo! Back from my week-away-from-home, so I can work on awards and whatnot now. I did some thinking and if I have time[and motivation], I was planning on making 'nomination' awards for the people who were nominated but didn't win, because that's an awesome accomplishment too. Those don't need to be posted in the actual award thread because they'll prolly be uniform[except for the names] and will just take up space, if that makes sense. I can PM the individual awards to the nominees, or someone else can if they want, either way.

Ea, Nothing, nothing. Don't worry about it. :)

Aliana, :bye2: I think that's a brilliant idea. We should probably get Kit's approval (as I don't think this has been done before, right?), but I'm all for it. Even posting them in some form of thread... not necessarily public threads... In Your Life Section, maybe?

The reason I wanted to do it through PMs is that I was tossing around the idea of banners that kinda correspond with the awards[like 'I was nominated for this that and the other' banners, or 'I won this that and the other'] and that's a lot of pictures, because SO many people were nom'd this year. Maybe we could split it and have the awards in a thread in Your Life[if Kit gives the go-ahead] and I could just PM everyone their banners.

I got back from vacation with a lot less to do than I thought I did, so I'm bulking up on projects. =P

Ones italicized are those who have either won or might be involved in a tie-break round.

The issue I see is that you are taking the ones that have 7 - 6 results to go for a tie-break because they're so close, but then what about those results that are 7 - 6 - 5? Aren't they close? If we're going to do "close-count" tie-breaks then we should include those that range "close". That means if the top person is 20 and the next in running is 18, they should be included in a tie-break round too.

If we're going to do 'close-count' tie-break then we should stretch the range to at least 3 votes. That means the top results must be within 3 votes of each other. Like indicated in the category the Merry & Pippin award.

Also, what do you guys plan to do with the results of categories where that member has already won 4 awards?

Say when this nomination was started, the member had already won three awards in previous rounds. They were nominated for four categories and won in two of them. They're only allowed one more award. Do they get to choose which award they want to take? Etc.

@Aliana Fae: You're welcome to make awards for "Nominated for ________ Award @ Arwen-Undomiel.com Forum Member Awards Round 08" but just do the member awards for the winners like it's always been done. Also, if you end up winning a category. Try to get someone else to make your award for you. No one should make their own award and that's my criteria.

Are we doing tie-break rounds for most of the awards, then? All of the polls were pretty close, far as I could tell. It's been going on for a really long time and I don't know how many people would think to go back there to vote again after voting already. Certainly not the almost-40 voters there were the first time around.

I was planning on getting someone else to make awards for me, definitely. If anyone specific wants to do it, just let me know before I go ask someone else.

Generic awards for the nominees then, or can I put their names on them? With the banners, I was planning on making those relatively generic too and smaller than 700x150 so they're not mega-huge but people can wear them in their signatures if they want to. Like the stars I got for the cookoff thing but without the hassle for you mods.
