Those are awesome banners! :D So prettyful!

btw, if you guys decide to do the split into two times Cookoff I could probably judge for the second one... the July/August one. :) And perhaps if Saira does it then too she can sorta show me the ropes as it were. ;) Either way, good job planning so far guys...

don't mind me... *slips away before she's noticed*

It sounds like a good idea to me to do two, so more people can participate - I'll be gone for the second half of July and the first half of August, but I know others will be able to do it then more easily (and I'll be in for the first one ;-) ).

The first half seems to be coming up rather quickly. We should probably get this point system in order.

Darn, so Saira won’t be here to show me the ropes then? Well, I guess I’ll just have to wing it. Lol Or PM Smeag or Aliana if I have any issues. ;)

I'd love to join, though I have no idea what I have to do.

Oh well, I'll just go along with everyone else xD

Yeah, I know, Saira, but I won’t be here for the first half of the Cookoff… I’m gonna be gone the end of June. *nods*

Ask Aliana or Smeag, Lothy, they'll know what to do with you! :P

Okie doke, I'm just gonna put this here as the set dates. They're open for changing if a vast majority says they can't join in either.

GRAPHIC MAKER'S COOKOFF PART 1:
June 21 - June 30

GRAPHIC MAKER'S COOKOFF PART 2:
July 26 - August 4

All graphic makers are able to enter both parts, though scoring will be done separately. The over-all winner will be determined by all the ending scores

So if Artist A were to enter part 1 and get 500 points, then enter part 2 and get 700 points, both scores are listed in the final line-up and NOT added together.

Remember, everyone, this is for fun. Don't get too competitive that you miss the ultimate goal: to expand as artists and showcase your talents.

Here's my idea for the points system. Discuss as necessary, we'll change it if we think it needs to be changed:

Avatars: 2pts
Banners: 4pts
Avatar Banners: 4pts
Bookmarks: 4pts
Blends: 6pts
Wallpapers: 6pts
Colourizations: 8pts
Retouches: 8pts
Awards: 6pts
Other: (determined by the daily challenge judges)

So, I would really love to enter. I didn't see last years, but it sounds awesome. The only things is that my holidays run from the 26th of June to the 12th of July.
I should be able to do the first one, though. When's the cut off date for entering?
I'm still not quite clear on how the time-pressure thing works. Would daily challenges only run for 24 hours? Is the idea to produce as many as possible, or just meet the challenge requirement? And would 'daily' refer to a US day?

Is there a link to last years thread kicking around somewhere? Would be great to see how it worked.

Oh my. That was a lot of questions. Sorry.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, because it's stuff we haven't gone over yet and probably need to anyways. =)

http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=18765 <---There's last year's posting thread, the rules and whatnot are in the first post but they've changed a bit this year. There are no posting requirements as far as the non-challenge graphics go and the challenges will be posted in a separate thread to make things a bit easier.

The idea of the entire Cookoff is to make as many quality graphics as possible and earn points based on how many graphics you've made. Points can also be earned by doing the daily and weekly challenge. Daily challenges will only run for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight GMT, and then they will be crossed out and the next one will be posted. The weekly challenge[there will be two, I think] are a bit more difficult, so they'll last the duration of the Cookoff.

I am going to be having different Daily and Weekly Challenges for the two different weeks, hopefully. I do encourage everyone, even if they can't enter one or more of the Daily Challenges to still do them on your own time to challenge yourself.

Lastly, the cut-off date for entering for Part 1 is the 20th. I'll be posting a Sign-up thread a couple weeks ahead of time.

If anyone else has questions please let us know. =)

Ok, Saira, that works for me.

The points system looks good to me, btw. I like. So… being judge would you, say, be able to give only 5 points to Bob’s colorization that you didn’t think was worth 8pts? Or do you have to give Bob’s good colorization 8pts no matter what even if it’s not as good as, say, Bills awesome colorization which you would really want to give 8pts to? And in the end that means that you tally up all the points that people have gotten for their graphics? So what if someone makes a billion stunning avatars and beats out someone who's put a lot of time into making blends and hasn't made as many and they aren't as good as the avatars? But the Avatar Maker gets more points so they beat the Blend Maker? Hopefully my questions are making sense... sorry...

Yeah, your questions make sense, and those are the main issues we are trying to address. I think the best way would be to have multiple people count up and give point totals based on their interpretation of the collection, and each can make notes were they changed the set points and for what reason. Then, all of the judges work together to decide on the fairest point total for that graphic. Does that make sense?

Obviously the max points will be based on how many people judge... But I think that PD's suggestion sounds fine. I actually cant remember how it went last year, but I think that's how it went.

Smeag, for something like the daily challenge, all the points will be awarded for the graphics, right? I have no memory of how that went..

I believe we are continuing from last year, and we had the graphics themselves worth the standard points and, for whatever place you win, you will get bonus points.
