Post subject:  Fan Art Directory
With all of the Request, Fan Fiction, and Contest directory, I think we should have a Fan Art Directory. All of the works of everyone here could be gathered and referred to for easy access. Does this sound like a good idea?

That does sound like a very useful idea however, the thing is --- people constantly make new threads to show off their new artwork or to ask for thoughts on a new piece so it's hard to keep a straight system unless we ask that everyone keep one thread and update it for their art portfolio.

Wow! Looks like I've started a craze!! :D I think Kit is right about the Fan Art section though Frosty, that will be a nightmare to keep track of and I don't know of anyone on here that goes through and replies to all the threads anyway, so I'm not sure who will benefit from the thread. The one thread thing would work but also it wouldn't, as some people have threads dedicated to one sort of graphic and then another dedicated for another sort. It would be very hard to keep track of, but if anyone can think of a way to make keeping the list a simplier task, I don't see why it shouldn't be tried at least, and see what happens. :-)

We could encourage members to keep small number of threads that they would like be listed in the directory. One for their graphics, or their artwork or their photography. Or they can all be combined into one thread different posts. First post, their graphics, second post - their artwork, third post - their photographs. This is probably the only time where we're going to allow double-posting. :p

That would work, but you need the co-operation of everyone who wants to post their art for it to work. And it is my experience that not everyone takes to these directories. :confused: And as the art section will be even worse to keep up to date than the contest section, you can't really expect one member to trawl through all the posts and add it themselves. Maybe a little bit of advertising before the thread is started may help? :-)

Well, if they don't want to take up the opportunity to shamelessly advertisement then poo them. They'll just continue to look for their thread through endless pages of other people's pretty artwork until they're not lazy enough to organize their stuff.

Well, I suppose that we could have a directory with all of the threads of people who just use that one thread to post their stuff... that might encourage others to do likewise, in order to get on that spiffy list. (And in the meantime, make things a little more organized) ;)

I think that's a great idea. For people who have large threads where they post a lot of graphics, they can request to be added to the list. It would encourage people to have less threads all over the place.
