On other forums I have been on, Mods have posted an update thread. Whenever they change something, or for instance, when the mods here thin out the forums, they post in one thread. Its usually locked to members, but still viewable by them. It keeps the threads in the FAQ sections down, and its also a good reference if somebody has questions.

Just a suggestion, But I though it might work.

I think she's suggesting that maybe we could have one universal thread for updates that the mods make to the forum, so that we don't have as many threads to look through in the Announcements board. It'd be better for viewing purposes, but probably not as neat. :)

Yeah, so if Arwen found a glitch in the forum or something and fixed it, she would mention it in the update thread, or if she uploaded some more smilies etc, just things like that.

Yeah, even small things like minor maintenance which may seem insignificant... but someone always notices... ! :-)
And the thread could be used to raise communication between admin/staff and members. So many people seem to feel that even small changes are confusing... perhaps more if they are not around regularly... so maybe they would feel more comfortable about it if they could go check an info thread for recent updates/events/changes. Sort of like an A-U log. It might also prevent all the "Hey, what's happened to...?" threads here on the Suggestions and comments board.

We sort of do this already in the Announcements section of the Form...Maybe we could just add to that and be sure to update it more?

I think that's what the announcement board is for, I guess. I know that's what Arwen uses when she's got something along those lines (such as back when we kept on having the graet A-U crashes) to comment on/point out. Maybe a thread in the announcements section for minor-stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread, but might be worth mentioning is a good idea?
