Why was anything A-U unaccessible yesterday? It was quite scary... :confused2:

I had a problem like that too, Autumn... I was worried it might've been just me! :blink: but all that would come up last night was the message "Error 404: file could not be found" and then it said check back tomorrow or something like that... it was weird!

It started out for me being the "page cannot be displayed" but after about 7 hours, a page came up saying something about a "parent directory" and it was saying that for both the forum and the main site (which was a double bummer for me as I really wanted some pictures from FOTR). And it was saying the same thing about 4 this afternoon. And then about 2 hours later BING it was working.

I have a feeling that was the same message we got before the great forum crash of '05. I could be wrong though, but I honestly wasn't expecting to get on here at all today.

The host site was just doing some revamping is all. It was only for a few hours, so it wasn't too much to worry about. :)

Yes, I got the same messages...it did sound like it was related to revamping. Thanks for clearing that up, Kit, just wanted to make sure the forum wasn't dying on us or anything. :P

Oo yeah, I panicked because I thought the Hallofest would crash and burn all around us, and I immediately asked Arweb... thank gosh it was actually all right :P

Aye, Sida and I both asked Arwen about it yesterday on MSN. She said basically what Kit said about revamping and whatnot.

I'll admit, though- I was a bit concerned as well (especially bearing in mind the Great A-U Forum Crash of 05). It's kinda like coming home after a long day, only to have some random stranger pop and say "I'm sorry, but your house is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Quite disconcerting. *nods solemnly*

^ A very good analogy, potr! I wasn't worried about another huge crash, I was just worried that Arwen had deleted the site or something awful. (But I know she wouldn't do anything like that to us. ;))

Ah, thanks for telling us that Kit. :-)

'Twould have been nice though if some of the members who knew the real cause of the problem, had spread the word around though. Because I think quite a few of us thought it was something majorly bad, and it might happen again at any moment. ;)

I remember this. But my computer randomly gives me that message, so I just contributed it to my faulty laptop.
