For summer last year, the moderators set up the Return of the Rings experience. Why don't the members set up a new Return of the Rings this year with Return of the Rings: Beyond the Movies. In this, we celebrate what went on backstage in our signatures and different sections of the forum. We can set up contests, roleplays, and hold balls/parties (as is a tradition for AU).

We would have to think of ideas for the main sections and put people in charge of them.
So,
Graphics
RolePlaying
Writing
The Balls
Watching the Commentaries.
-----------------
I can't think of anything else.

I can be the background person that makes sure everyone does their jobs.
Because I have sticks to poke them with if they do not!
.. and I will be in charge of the Graphics.

Welcome Pandora! You both can choose whatever you want to help out with.
You have never watched a commentary??? You should. That is where my sig set came from.
Pretty much, we just need ideas to be tossed up.

Well that's weird, because I've heard that anecdote but I thought it was from the documentary? Oh, well.
I suppose I can deal with the parties/balls. I had a bit to do with the others and the masquerade so yeah....
When it comes to watching the commentaries, we'd really need the chat room open just for us, so we could all be watching it on our computers (I think the Mods might need more time to actually set up a commentary watching IN the chatroom and you might need Arwen for that) and posting at the same time.

I will put you down for that.
I was thinking on the same lines for watching the commentaries. So, we are going to need, at least some, mod involvement in this.
Overall, we need dates for the balls and where they will be held, and we need to plan a time when to initiate all of this. I can make threads for each of the sections in order to make this, somewhat, organized.

I don't think it would be feasible at this date to actually have the viewing in the chat room, so we'll all just have to make do with our own DVD's and things. I don't see there being a problem with that really. It also meant if we wanted too, after exactly an hour or something, if we had an agreed break for 5 minutes, we all wouldn't miss anything.
Yeah, we'll need someone to be there I think.
There also needs to be a theme for the balls. It would be kinda neat if there was the FOTR premiere party theme to it, you know where there was the party tree and the trolls and stuff like that. It would also be nice if one of the ball threads was just specifically to sit and talk about all the nehind the scenes LOTR stuff as well as the usual dancing, eating threads.

That would be cool
One of the balls being a premiere. I thought the other should be at Weta, and we can sneak into all of the shops and sets and such.
I am not too sure what you are referring to doing for the commentaries. Do you want them on the forum?

Usually when we have something like this, you can watch the films etc actually in the chat room I believe? Well I'm thinking this may be a little late for the Mods and possibly even for Arwen to set up, so maybe it would be easier for everyone if each of us watches the commentaries actually in our own homes on our own DVD players/computers but we can still talk to each other about them as we're watching. I was thinking the chatroom would be the place to talk, but perhaps the forum would work better, I'm not sure.

From my knowledge, in the chatroom you still have to use your own player, but it is just an easier place to talk. However, setting up dates wouldn't be too hard because a chat would be much easier than the forum.

I'm all for the cause, but I don't know how dedicated I can be to this...
If I volunteer for Roleplaying, would someone want to co-operate it with me?

I am sure we can find someone to cooperate with you AE.
I am going to be running around helping with everything that needs me. So, you can always PM me.
For the contests, I am thinking one main contest with rounds throughout the summer.
