Alright... so I guess they are just people who didn't end up posting.
You want me to keep going then or no?

Wow, down to 5800-something.. but probably at least 10 new spambots signed up as I write this! I mean you could delete fake accounts all day long apparently and you would still get behind... you're only human after all.
I'm with Ellie on the write-the-wierd-combination-of-numbers-and-letters-to-get-the-activation, although it would rule me out of joining A-U... I always have to refresh and get a new combination a couple of times before I can see what it says.... I wonder what's wrong with me....
So yeah, since computer [s]geeky[/s] knowledgeable guy isn't around it might be easier to make every new member write to the mod account to request an activation. Could Arwen put that in the sign up agreement thingie and state the reason why like someone suggested... I mean I feel really sorry for the mods as it seems a beautiful waste of time, so there ought to be another way to do it.

It doesn't hurt to try.
@Jax. I wouldn't worry about it. It's a great thought, but I don't want you to take up much of your time.
I did manage to get it down under 600 so it's start at least.

See that's exactly why I didnt want to post this now (or ever!). You might have been aware of it before but now you're even more determined to fight the spammers. Hear thy battle cry!
Thanks though.

Oh, procrastination... lucky you.. all I've got is the Hallowfest and YouTube, which don't seem to do their job well... I've managed to write 1½ pages even though I'm officially procrastinating.
*shakes head* Not good...

It's np. I only do it when I got nothing else to do. And if it helps I would be glad to do it.

Wow, good job on the deleting.. down to about 4500 members now. *pats on head*
And already 15 new members in less than an hour of whom only one or two looks real. This is crazy!!
...and I really need to get a life instead of checking member lists.
*goes off to procrastinate somewhere else*

I would allow you the power to go in and delete the members but... I don't think Arwen would like me offering up the chance to delete everyone off the list.

I've managed to delete all the inactivated users that aren't legit.
And I just realized that what Ea said:
Ea wrote: I was very reluctant about posting it now while the Hallowfest is running because this requires a mod to answer and Kit currently seems to be the most active of the mods.. and you know... she will most likely feel it her duty to take care of it right away, and I really don't want to add to the load of tasks and chores on her shoulders right now. But I was afraid I'd forget in the general Halloween cheerfulness!
was true.
Am I that predictable? .___.

"right away" were meant to be the key words above, other than that, no comments.

*slips out laboratory door and sends Kit an innocent smile*
But of course not, my dear, I would never think you an interesting psychological experiment... no no, never! *shakes head*
The newest registered member at present is some EveAngel Star... good job fighting the machines!
*sings Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, which Flaming Lips in fact wrote with Kit in mind, as an ode to A-U's own resident Yoshimi*
"Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me but you won't let those robots eat me Yoshimi, they don't believe me but you won't let those robots defeat me
Those evil-natured robots they're programmed to destroy us she's gotta be strong to fight them so she's taking lots of vitamins
'Cause she knows that it'd be tragic if those evil robots win I know she can beat them
Oh Yoshimi, they don't believe me but you won't let those robots defeat me Yoshimi, they don't believe me but you won't let those robots eat me"
