THE BREWERY
The Hobbit Ball Planning Thread

Another year at AU has flown by, and we have asked the halflings of the Shire to assist us in a celebration of the previous year of splendor and a toast for many more to come. They openly welcomed our company two years ago, taking us into Frodo Baggins' home and allowing us to have a week of havoc (not that they do not enjoy it themselves), and the hobbits of the Shire have again opened themselves up our (and soon to be their) merriment.

The plans have been negotiated and the locations and date arranged, now all that is left is the guests and events.

In other words:

I am confirming myself as a guest.

And it could be very hobbity to have some sort of gardening/flower event thingy.

Great idea bub! People would have to come up with flower arrangements, or the biggest tomatoes or something...

@smeag - sign me up as Ashalind ;)

Like a garden festival could work, I am just not sure how universal that would be.

What Saira and I have come up with is...
1. A Food Fight
2. Hide and Seek
3. Possibly a Water Day
4. Gift Exchange

Will do... is that your hobbit name?

Ooh a hobbit ball!! :-D I'm definitely in for this. Question: do you have to go as hobbits or are Gondorians allowed to pop round too?

All friendly races are welcome. I don't believe the hobbits would show too much kindness to orcs per say. Therefore, everyone is allowed to come, and, if you want to change your name to a Middle Earth Gondorian name, feel free.

Due to the completion of the War of the Rings, I do believe hobbits are more welcome to outsiders. So, I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

However, we are going to set up a date thread closer to the ball...

Yes, this is just the planning thread.

The gardening would be fun, but we need to come up with something that WILL be universal.

So I was sitting in English class I kind of drifted off (Essential Questions. I KNOW what they mean). How about a dancing competition? Hobbit are after all very good at it ;)

Oo! Hobbit Ball! You people come up with the most awesome stuff for ROTR! Count me in.

Dance competition! I like it. That conjures up the most adorable mental images.

My random input is that hobbits like food. What about a food making contest? Maybe something along the lines of a cake making contest?

The problem with gardening and dancing competitions is that there really isn't anything tangible about it. This is a role-play, so there is no real way to measure the winner. We can hold them during the events, but it would be more for fun rather than actual competition.

-sigh- Too true. I guess I sort of let my imagination run away :P

For the water events - Maybe some sort of boating? Like they could have huge banquet barges maybe...

Perhaps we could gather around the Party Tree to watch fireworks, as well. ;-) I do love Gandalf's fireworks... far better than Disney's!

I'll come up with a name sooner or later... right now my stupid internet doesn't feel like cooperating. >.<

I am sure Gandalf's firework will make an appearance.
