I can start developing a quiz for RotR that will put people in one of the four cities as it were...

Which ones do we want to do?

Lorien, Mordor, Gondor, Shire?
Rivendell, Rohan, Shire, Mordor?
Moria.... added into the mix??

I would go with those, but that's just my personal preference because I love all of those places and wouldn't mind getting stuck in any of those groups. Although now I do feel bad for the Dwarves but I was never a huge fan of them to begin with so... yeah. :P

Rambling on late at night while my eyes are getting heavy is something I should stop doing for my sanity and yours.

Oh hun, my sanity is long gone and I fear it will never be coming back so no worries about that

Aye, those were the ones I was thinking as well. I'll get a few more votes before starting to make a quiz...

We'll also need a leader for each of them to keep their teams on track :)

Is there a reason we couldn't do five groups? Add Moria in as well?

(Eeeeeee, I can has Shire team leader? :teehee: Whatever, I don't know how we're going to be doing it. But perhaps we should take this over to the RotR planning?)

:duh: I didn't even think about the 4th of July. Yeah, it would probably be good to start after that. Should we just start a whole week after, or just let it go over the 4th...? Ooh! Perhaps a challenge for the North America/US could be about Independence Day/Washington DC/etc? Just throwing out ideas. We could tie it all together. :P

A US July 4th contest sounds really good, but we should also try to incorporate places that the other people in the forum are from.

I'm confused. Would this contest just be a contest? Or are we thinking about putting it into the GMC?

Because if that is the case, I would really like to get something going regarding the contest ideas I have come up with because you may find there won't be any room. ;)

I'm just throwing out ideas. I have no clue about the challenge stuff, I haven't done much with them in past years. But, as I thought we were going with a different country/continent for each day (were we?) then the one for the US/North America could deal with something along the lines of 4th of July since we'd be at that time.

So I'll just give that to the challenge committee to look at along with everything else. :teehee:

I'm not really sure how we were dealing with it actually.

I just thought it would be random challenges based on the world and cities.

If it's not that, then... my 24 challenge ideas comes down to about 5. :P

The idea behind the challenges was to expand the graphic maker's ability by taking them out of their comfort zone, and it turned into a themed event.

So, in order to do the challenges, we first have to decide how many days there are and then figure out if we want to do continents or cities. I feel like we could do a mixture of continents, cities, famous landmarks, etc.

Although, the biggest thing with the contests is that nobody knows about them until the day of. So, I think it would be best to pick someone to be in charge of the daily challenges and let them decide how they want to orchestrate around the theme.

There are 24 challenges. 10 days of normal daily challenges (x2) and also last time we had 2 weekly challenges (x2). So I'm presuming that we're going to be going for the same thing.

As for the themed. I personally do not think it will work if Monday we say "North America", Tuesday "Europe". Because for a start it is not that exciting, and secondly, if you look at last years challenges (pick your favourite fairytale and make a blend - pick your favourite villain etc), it's not allowing people a great deal of choice or room, whilst still staying with the theme.

So, on that note I am going to PM Lothy with the ideas I have had so far.

You're forgetting that Canada Day is July 1st...

Just putting that out there.

I have been looking at the rules that we had last year regarding posting and the challenges, and I see no reason to alter anything that Aliana wrote as it's pretty thorough. Except maybe the times and dates. Duh. :P

Just wondering if anyone thinks they need to be altered or not, as it will save someone a lot of time if we use them.

Right hello everyone, sorry I haven't been replying much, been working. So:

I have appointed JF the Challenges Manager so any queries/ideas shall now go to her.

Shall we change the dates to 10-20th July and the 7-17th August?

Post subject:

 I think that would be better since it misses any holidays.

I think the challenge rules are fine as is.

Those dates sound good to me. :-) But whatever works best for you guys will suit me fine.

As to the challenges, just to let everyone know, I have tried to get a variety of different things going, and without forcing people to make something of X city, I think the challenges cover cities, continents pretty well with a couple of random things thrown in. :-) It will give people an opportunity to cover their favourite cities and to explore new ones.
