Hi, I been a LotR fan ever since I stumbled upon The Hobbit thanks to my older brother. However, that is not the reason of my post.
I have long desired to tattoo myself but never found anything of significance worth imprinting on my body for the rest of my life until recently. I have been going through some dark times in my life but I think I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and there is no better reminder to get there than affix the following onto my body:
"Focus on your goal and thou shall not derail from the path."
The trick here is that I want to get it written in elvish font. The problem is many translators are just literal and only provide the translation in the English alphabet.
The only translation I've found so far is: "thyler ol os kyr eil sai mar byr paesar thys si var" which I am sure makes no grammatical sense.
Does anyone know a translator that produces results in Quenya and in the actual elvish font? (Sindarin would work just as well)
Thanks for anyone who cares to respond and I hope not to offend anyone with my poor English (it is my second language).

Some more research has lead me to find the the actual font (Tengwar) but I am still in need of help to find a good grammatical Quenya translator.

hi Ezeron, no worries, I could understand you.

ok, so from what I understand you want the phrase written in either Quenya or Sindarin, but in the correct font as well.

I haven't been able to find a good translator online, but perhaps you could ask our member Erkenhelm? I remember him saying once that he wrote something in the Elvish language. he might be able to help.

I did find a translator for the Tengwar Annatar, and put it into that font. I looks like this:

not sure if that helped much. good luck in your quest though; it's a beautiful saying you chose, very inspirational.

I often right random things in the tengwar while bored in class (i know, i should be paying attention :p), but i have little to no experience with using words in elvish and making sentences, unfortunately.

If you're willing to put some work into it, I can recommend a book that gives you a guide in the forming of sentences. Its called the The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth by Ruth S. Noel. The price is a little steep for its size, but its the most complete guide that I've been able to find so far.

Your best bet would be posting this again in the Imlandris section> viewforum.php?f=14

Here you will find members who are fluent in all forms of elvish, and will be very happy to help you with your translation.

Hope that helps.
Andi

Wow guys thanks a lot for all this feedback!

I downloaded the Tengwar Annatar font online and was able to write the phrase in such font which looks very much like what I want it to be; however, I saw the one Alanna linked and I must admit I like it a bit more due to the tiny details on top of some of the characters. The one I downloaded only does that for single letters in some cases.

Besides the font now, my next step on my quest is to get the most grammatical correct translation from English to Quenya or Sindarin (whichever is the closest) and I will be following the link provided by Anduril Vanlhach whom I thank very much for guiding towards the right path!

I will post pictures once I finish my search along with some info on how I got it for other's to take advantage of. Thanks again!

Ezeron.

I finally got the tattoo!
After about a month's long of research I found that there is no direct translation made by Tolkien for the word Focus (or attention or concentrate or anything of the sort) so I decided to just write it out in English but using Tengwar (the elvish font).
I would post a pic but I have no idea how!
Anyhow, I also ended using a more concise but equally effective phrase which is just: "Stay Focused".
After all, the main reason for having it done was to tell my subconscious to stop wandering away from what my goals are and focus on what I want to do!
Last but not least, thanks to everyone for your feedback!

Ps. If someone teaches me how to post pics I will upload it.
Ps'. Do not hesitate to ask me for sources if you want to do something similar! I believe to have found the most legit translators on the web.

Oooh exciting. :)

I'd love to see a picture. The way you can upload a picture is either to link to the picture if you put it in an online album like Photobucket. Then you just put the link between this code

If you saved pictures on your computer you can attach it as a file to your post. Go to the full editor and scroll down to Upload attachment. Choose the file from the folder on your computer and upload it.
