So it had to happen ![]() We want to know opinions of members about how this event should look and in which areas they want to participate. We thought about such activities: RPG - Hobbit Party (everyone should bring a lot of food!) - The Freaky AU Fellowship (we exploring Middle-Earth in 3rd Era) - Elven Ball (everyone thinks which dress to wear!) Movie Marathons Contests: Fanfiction: divided into poetry and prose Fanart: divided into - chapters of the Fellowship of the Ring - races of Middle-Earth - poster contest - traditional art We think about the timeline; does 20th August - 1st October suit you? We wait for your opinions! ![]() Btw, here are banners for promoting the event ![]() By me: ![]() http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9678/retws.jpg ![]() http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4254/ret2.jpg By Elenthari: ![]() http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x131 ... rings1.jpg ![]() http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x131 ... Great, guys! We appreciate it. ![]() Btw, this year it's 10 years since FotR was released, so we were thinking to make the event a bit more FotR related. What do you think of it? ![]() Also we're open to new ideas and suggestions. It'd be of great help. ![]() |

We have a question for all who wish to participate and look at the event. Which one do you prefer for traditional art contest: portrait or scenery (like draw Mordor, draw Rivendell etc). ![]() |

Actually, I'd love to see scenery or locations. We have a couple of people who draw portraits very well but it would be interesting to see scenery too. And perhaps it would make new people join as well because scenery doesn't have to be so accurate as a portrait and can be more.. artsy, you may say... ![]() |

I cannot draw, but I definitely vote on the scenery portion, because LOTR was filmed in such a beautiful place, plus just has some of the most beauitful scenery in any movie that I've seen! |

I agree, scenery would be somethin different, and it might open doors to more people who aren't very good at drawing people. I'd like to jump into all this whenever i can, it sounds great. |

Guys, I know we should start tomorrow, but Smaug hasn't been around these days and I think we should wait for her. I hope it's not a problem that we'll postpone the start of RotR with few days. ![]() I'm really sorry for this last-minute delay. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Return of the Rings 2011 |
Now guys, I know we've put the event on hold a little bit, but I guess it wouldn't do any harm if we start working on organising the things a little. ![]() ![]() Now, I'm bit a newbie-ish about working on such big events such as RotR. ![]() 5th September - 16th October Now,in my opinion there are few questions we should answer about each event, part of RotR. And namely: What?: What event - contest/RPG/Hobbit Party/Elven Ball ect... What's my vision?: How do you picture this event. If it's a contest - how many rounds should it be? If it's a RPG - what is it's plot? In other words - a brief description of the event. How many?: How many threads do we need for each event? Who?: Who will be host/hosts of the event. How long:Discuss the duration of each event. As Smaug had posted, we've already divided RotR in few sections. Hobbit Party Host(s): Elenthari, Smaug, Lembas Link(s): Hobbit Party; Planning + Discussion Thread; Costumes+Dates Thread; Food+Decorations Thread Elven ball Host(s): Elenthari, Smaug Start:th October End: 16th October RPG Title: The Freaky AU Fellowship Host(s): Elenthari Link(s): The Freaku AU Fellowship Title: RotR 2011 Mock Battle Host(s): Anduril Vanlhach (The Nazgul Club) Link(s): RotR 2011 Mock Battle; The Nazul Team; The Hobbit Team Contests >>>General SING UP Thread<<< Title: FanArt- LotR chapters Contest Host(s): Lembas Link(s): Round 1 Title: FanArt- Races of Middle-earth Contest Host(s): Lembas Link(s): Round 1 Title: FanArt- LotR poster contest Contest Host(s): Lembas Link(s): LotR poster contest Title: FanArt- Traditional Art Contest Host(s): Lembas Link(s): My Favourite Character Art Contest Movie Marathons LotR scavenger hunt Host(s): Lithôniel Start: End: So, let's see what we have in our hat until this moment. ![]() Quote: What: Hobbit Party What's my vision: Smaug and I were thinking this to be our opening event. Funny and random so everybody can enjoy themselves. ![]() How many: The number of threads I considered is 3 - a Main one, one for posting our outfits and one for posting what food we bring with us (inspired by Smaug's comment "everyone should bring a lot of food!") and how we've decorated our party field ![]() Who: 2-3 hosts How long: Well, as an opening event it should begin on RotR's start-date. As for the duration - I don't know, maybe as long as we can keep running it? What: Elven ball What's my vision: Our closing event. How many: Maybe 3 threads: a main one, one for posting our outfits, one for posting our dates Who: Again 2-3 hosts How long: Last week of RotR? What: Contests - FanArt What's my vision: Divided into 4 topics: - LotR chapters - races of Middle-Earth - poster contest - traditional art We were thinking that each topic of the FanArt contests should consist of few rounds. How many: New thread for each round. Who: 4 - one for each topic. How long: The duration is set by each host. ![]() What: Contests - Fanfiction What's my vision: Divided into 2 topics: - poetry - prose Again each contest consists of few rounds - 2 or 3 How many: New thread for each round. Who: 2 - one for each topic. How long: The duration is set by each host. What: Movie Marathons What's my vision: Organised LotR movie night during the weekends? How many: I was thinking of using AU's chat on the main site ![]() Who: 1 or 2 hosts How long: Each Saturday/Sunday during RotR? Now, this is how I picture some of RotR's events. This is just an outline. Fell free to post your opinion on each topic. Tell us what kind of contests/RPG's you're interested participate/you're interested to host. Also if you have an idea for a theme for the contests/RPG/etc. - share it with us. ![]() For example I'd like to suggest something about the poetry contest. How about we choose few places from Middle-earth, (The Shire, Lorien, Edoras, Minas Tirith, Barad-dur, Moria etc). The contestants will choose one of them and write a poem about it? For now I'll leave the space under each section blank. Feel free to sign up for whatever event you'd like to help with the organisation! Few more hands on this won't be unnecessary! ![]() ![]() PS: Also we should discuss a new time line for RotR. How about we start around 5th September? PPS: I'm really sorry for my messy post. I hope that I hope I've expressed myself in an understandable way. ![]() |
