Post subject: | Misc. Randomness |
I have some issues with this section of the forum, and I just wanted to mention it. I find it strange that the mods on the forum try to enforce no one word posts and no useless posts, yet 85% of the misc. randomness section of the forum is composed of exactly that. I know it's meant as a fun section and whatever, but it's one of the busiest sections of the forum and there are people getting 100s and even 1000s of posts there. I don't pretend that I don't ever post there, I do on occasion. It just seems hipocritical to be saying don't make one word posts or useless posts, but go here and make an unlimited number of them and up your post count significantly. Maybe it's just my pet peeve, but it irks me to see people who rarely post outside of completely pointless threads with more posts than people who have been here for a long time. Another thing is that when people post there so much, you get accustomed to the "style" of posting, causing spam elsewhere. I thought if post count was deactivated in the misc. randomness section, it was would be purely about fun and not uping your posts. Well, tell me what you think about it, and give suggestions ![]() |

i dont go on there much actually ... if you're talking about my posts .. ![]() its hard to talk there cos most people there talk around each other and say random things every other post ... its impossible to have a normal convo there ... i agree with you, Beri ... plus i think the welcoming team thread and the AU common room are better places to talk to each other |

We have actually discussed this issue reasonably recently and turning off the post count in Misc Randomness has been suggested (by me might I add ![]() |

I completely agree with that, Beri. I mean, to a certain degree, it's really all harmless. These games are mindless fun, what more could you want? ![]() But it does bother me when members only or mostly post there, and then boast of their post count. I think disabling a member from gaining posts there is a good idea. Is it possible? I also love what you said about people talking in that "style". It can really annoying me when run on sentences are made, and countless typos. |

I just go there for fun, not to up my posts. I do think there should be a limit on how many times you post a day on the forum, say, 20? |

^That is good, but what about the family tree rp thread? Youc ould be having a perfectly good convo on there and hav to stop it mid way. |

Hmm, I can see where you are coming from. And I'm also well aware that many of my posts come from there. But I don't think it affects how you post elsewhere. I always try to make reasonable length posts, and I try to use correct grammar too. Maybe stopping Misc.randomness post going towards your count would encourage people to make thier posts more substantial. But personally I say leave things as they are. A true member of this forum posts everywhere, not just in one section. |

I think there should be an extra rule for the family thread, but for all the rest I think there should be a limit of posts per day.. |

As far as I'm aware it's not possible to limit the amount of post a person makes a day, especially not only one board and definitly not missing out a certain thread on that board. |

whats wrong with the Family RP thread? and how about all the games and everything? so basically they should remove the post counts from every thread in the 'Miscellaneous Randomness' section i suppose... |

LOL, I was a bit unsure about mentioning it, but now I'm glad I did! ![]() I read what everyone posted, but anything further I said about it would be redundant. Thanks for the feedback, guys ![]() |

I'm working at getting the Misc. Randomness section to be de-post-count-ified. It's not completely working correctly so far, so bear with me... |
