Over the past few days (since Friday, I think) I've randomly gotten these Error The page cannot be displayed messages when trying to open a thread or post a message. Over the weekend once or twice it shut down all the windows I was working in (A-U or not) so that might have been the computer I was on.
But I was wondering if there were any known errors on the forum that could have caused it. When it happens it's only very temporary, but nevertheless quite annoying when it shuts down when I've just typed out a post!

[Bonus question: Can anyone tell me why my last banner screws up?]

Yep, I'm having those "This page cannot be displayed messages" as well and I think they're pretty frequent since Thursday or Friday. I agree that they're really annoying...But they're not in all parts of the forum, but more frequently in some sections.

Concerning your banner: Did you change anything in your sig? I think there's a blank space between the [img] and the link that shouldn't be there. I hope that solves the problem. :)

EDIT: I had the message just now when I posted here. :(

I haven't noticed in which sections of the forum I get the message, but I've mostly been on Your Life and LotR-related threads lately...

Umm yeah, I did actually change something in my signature. I didn't know spaces were so important, but good observation. Thank you

Bonus question: The <center> </center> code doesn't work in my signature.

Your're welcome! :)

Concerning the centering stuff: I think you have to leave out the "/" and all spaces again ;). Then it should work...:)

Well, the error messages mostly appeared in Your Life, the Club Section and the Suggestion and Comments Section for me.

Yes, I have been getting these messages. On Friday, for over an hour, it wouldn't even let me get on AU, as the page kept saying it could not be found. :-( I'm glad it's not just me that's been experiencing these problems though. ;)

I've also been having this problem. At first I thouoght it was just my computer and the evil demons that possess it, but then it was only A-U that wasn't working. I assumed that the site was down or being worked on or something. I hope everything is ok.

<center>Thank you Rose... I'll try that center-thing again - it doesn't give me problems when I use it in a regular post.
(As you can see here! ;-))</center>

I got the Error message in the LotR book section today, but it still posted my message... and then I almost got it when opening this thread!

I have been having an awful time with those Error Messages. As you may or may not know, I do basically haunt this forum (I'm on it every time I'm on the computer, which means a minumum of around five hours every day), so I get those messages a ton. :annoyed2: Mostly it happens when I type up a really big post that I don't want to lose.

However, normally it works to just copy the post when I realize it's loading slower than usual, and then, if it does show the Error page, just reload the forums. *shrug* but sometimes it keeps me out altogether, like last Sunday--it kept me out for like an hour and a half then.

^Yeah, now you mention it, I might have seen you once or twice around the forum, lol :-)

Yup, I'm beginning to get paranoid, so I panic and copy my post whenever the forum doesn't load right away when I'm posting a message.. so usually I avoid loosing them.

I hope a mod or Arwen will post here soon. Since a couple of us get these errors it must be something general. Hopefully, the problem can be solved easily!

Yup, yup. I copy and paste everything of importance - just in case. ;) AU conked out on me again last night for a while, I couldn't get on it.

Good plan, JF. I lost a really huge post in Sharky's End before I started Copy/pasting my posts. :annoyed2:

I've also had those problems - and I'm still having them. I'm pretty sure that it's because of my comp though.. it's a pretty old one

Ooh, same here. It always happens in the "Music" section or when I'm trying to get to the Index. It's driving me insane. :grr:

I actually haven't seen any error messages lately - I've had them come up in the past though. I think they're to do with the forum database... maybe overloading *tries to remember* if there are a lot of people on, or if something with it has gone wrong. I think it's more likely to be to be - oh, gah, I have to get off this computer. *is forcefully removed by family members* >:(

Grrr. It just happened again. I couldn't access any A-U at all, not even the main site. It couldn't have been that there were too many users on because there were only five registered users, five hidden users, and three guests. I confess myself confuzzled. I hope we can fix whatever is happening though, since it seems like more people than just me are having problems, so it can't just be my computer.

I think it sounds like there might be a problem with the host or the database, still... I know it's certainly not anything I can fix, sorry. I'll try and find the other thread talking about this from another time.

Yep, it's . All I can think of suggesting is looking through that and seeing if the problems raised there are similar to what is happening now... and maybe contact Arwen about it if it keeps on going on.
