Post subject:  The names of the sub-boards

I have been wondering this for a while now. As a part of the great AU-revival the sub-boards changed names. How did you come up with the names? Some are more obvious than others and some of the places I don't even remember from Tolkien's work, although I assume they are all taken from Arda. Like this one Dwimorberg... where is that in Middle-earth?
The names give the forum a nice and more unique touch even though I have to admit I still have to look at the old names in parenthesis. But I can't relate all the new names to the places, so without their old (and more obvious) names I'd be lost... or forced to learn eventually!! Perhaps a bit of an explanation would help my memory...

Actually, many of them are just randomly named. But there are some I chose because they did fit. :P

The Hall of Fire (Fanfiction & Poetry) is a little obvious, I think. The Hall of Fire is of course the place in Rivendell to go and listen to song or tales on high days. :)

House of Bombadil (Miscellaneous Randomness) is another pretty obvious one... :P

Mirrormere (Movies & TV) Mirrormere, if you don't remember, is outside the eastern gates of Moria. If you look into the water, you can see the stars of Durin's Crown. :) So I thought it would be good for a forum about images. :P

Mirkwood (The Swoon Board) ... There is no message behind that one. Nope. None at all. :teehee:

Dol Guldur (Non-LotR Actor Discussion) Bwahaha. I named this an evil place on account of why people want to drool over non-LotR actors, when there are so many gorgeous men in LotR already. :P

Sharky's End (Non-LotR RPG) This was the by-name of Bagshot Row after the scouring of the Shine, because it was the place where Sharky (Saruman) met his end. :P It was just such a funny and underused name that I couldn't resist squeezing it in somewhere. :bounce:

Imladris (Languages) Since Imladris is the place to go in Middle Earth for lore, I thought the scholarly forum deserved that title. :)

The Party Field (LotR Gaming) Pretty easy to figure that one out, I think... :P

New Zealand (Miscellaneous Movie Discussion) And the same here. :P

The Halls of Mandos (Announcements) Big, scary place full of dead people and DOOM. What better name could you ask for scary announcements of DOOM?

I think that about does it...

Oh, yes. This forum, Dwimorberg (Suggestions and Comments), was named because it often gets filled with lots of scary members screaming for our heads. :teehee:

Thank you Arsarniel, interesting, interesting!

I like how you put Imladris instead of Rivendell!

Rivendell is a good name... but Imladris is disgracefully under-used!!

Owh by the way, did the Smiley Queen get to decide all the names herself?

Well, we were all in agreement that we wanted to change the boards to LotRish titles, but I think Arsa and Bellethiel undertook most of the work :)

Hey! Stolen my title. *growls* :annoyed2: And I think that re-naming the sub-boards was a good idea for a nice change. :-D  :) :bounce: :bye2:
