For us to add a little bit of safety to some of the boards?

When I say that, I'm talking about making some of the boards so that only registerd members can view them.

Example: The Prancing Pony (Your Life)

Perhaps, espesially for threads like the Picture Thread, it might help you feel a bit more secure posting in there, because no potbellyed sweaty old pervert could view them without going through all the trouble of registering?

Seeing what you members think, and if you think we could even make more boards than that are users only. ;)

I think that is a very good idea. It may encourage people (like myself) to reveal more private things about themselves (pictures etc) if we knew that only registered members could view the information. I also think the *Your Site* section could perhaps be made viewable to members only as producing personal blogs, sites etc may lead to people spamming sites or sending weird messages to people. :-)

I like this idea! I think we should keep a lot of discussions viewable to all, since members often like to look through a forum when they are contemplating joining to see what it is like. But I think added security would definately be a good idea. :)

I totally agree :) *nods* My mom got SOOOO mad when she found out I posted pics of myself on my xanga (which only people I know ever look at), and she has forbidden me from posting them any where else. I bet if we had more 'security' she'd let me :)

I think it's a brilliant idea! Of course I've always thought of AU as a very safe place, but you never really know who could be out there on the internet these days. Better be safe than sorry. Great thinking Arsa!

I heartily agree with that idea, I never really though about everyone being able to view the site, but it is a slightly disturbing revelation! I am all for privatization of some boards.

Eh, well, the main point of this idea was safety's sake, and the only place we really seem to post a lot of personal information is the Your Life section. Remember, we want as much of the forum to be viewable to non-members as possible so they'll see what they can join in on if they register. Forums that shut out non-members from viewing most boards don't attract a lot of new registerees.

Besides, perhaps we can coax them into joining just because they have to see what's in the Life section or else explode of curiosity. :teehee:

I think it's a great idea! There is a lot of personal information in the Life section, and I would feel a lot better if that was only viewable to other beloved members! :)
