Please see the rules at

Over the past few weeks we've been getting some questions about the rules we enforce here.
Let us outline one thing first:
We're not out to get you or make power for ourselves.
In fact, a moderator's first and only duties are to respect and lead their fellow members. Several moderators have failed once or twice in the respecting stage, but nobody is perfect.
Why make rules? Well, first of all, why not? What large civilized forum or organization has survived without some code of conduct? Guidelines and rules are essential to the members of the forum. For starters, it sets out good members from the bad. People with bad attitudes, extremely awful habits, etc., generally tend to break the rules we've set down. Thus, you can actually discern if you're chatting and messaging with an honest person or not.
Secondly, a civilized forum has a good feeling. True, it doesn't have a good feeling when people constantly complain about it, but that's another story. There was once a certain PC game that was MAGNIFICENT. But, sadly, several trouble-makers posted everywhere saying that it was awful and newbie-like (most computer game players aren't too friendly with newbies) and you know what happened? Nobody who went online bought the game. That's what'll happen if people start complaining every second.
Good-natured people will leave.
However, if we set in line a good code of conduct and people don't complain then people WILL come. Look at the member count, folks! We set forth the guidelines at around 400 members. Now (before the forum transfer) there are nearly 2,500. That's a fair amount for a fan site. There have been other fan sites that have grown from 2,000 to nearly 20,000 in a year after a set of rules were put in place.
We hope that answers some questions... may Arwen-Undomiel.com continue to grow...
