I've done a drawing of Tobey Maguire [Spider-man], that I did in art today... I haven't got it scanned in yet, but when I do, I'll show it to you :)

Please do!!!!!

Oh, and Kitoky, that's awesome!!! I love all the Japanese style forms, its a completely different field in my opinion. I've only dabbled in anime but I am getting better at it. I've bought a lot of those How Do Draw Manga Volumes, maybe you've heard of them? There's around 20 volumes, and I love the fact they focus on examples, instead of over-explaining text. I teach an Introduction to Drawing course one semester of the school year at a high school; its just basic introduction concepts and techniques, nothing too elaborate, but its the groundwork for everything that comes afterwards. Is there a chance of seeing any of your drawings???

Yes!! You're so talented Oro! You make graphics AND you draw!

Eruadan: Oh, yes. I have friends who have bought those tutorials...I'm not much of a fan of those, to be honest. It seems that they always focus one an almost 'mock' Japanese style. There are many styles of drawing anime, but the only style that are in those books are basically only used by the artists tutorials.

Do you know the history behind the Japanese style of artwork? "Anime" titled. It actually was formed after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to represent the radioactivity distortion result of the bombings. Just a bit of trivia.

As for my drawing. I have alot actually, they range from my 5th grade pictures [I think] to now. I have my own kind of style if it's not fanart.

However, it seems, my regular page is down, and I'll get it back up as soon as I can.

S'all good Kitoky, I find no offence.
I've only really started into getting into drawing bodys in the last few months, I've only ever drawn portraits, So yup, I need to learn to draw bodies better, stupid fiddly things.

I only ever use pencils to colour or draw my art, I just love pencils, the colours the smells, the feel. yeah Im weird.

Oh and My deviant art account is Johanna-Lee

I bought myself a derwent Artist set of 72
When i draw just in greyscale I use a set of derwents technical pencils (they're the H scale ones)...Im dying to get my hands on a set of graphic pencils (theyre the B scale ones)

Typically when I begin my drawing I usually use soemthing like a HB or a 2B at most, nothing higher than a 2B as it would leave a mark on the paper no matter how good your eraser is.

Yeah.

My drawing kit consists of...

6H
4H
2H
HB
2B
6B
A Tortillan
A Plastic Eraser
A Kneaded Eraser

:D It's a simple kit.

I usually use the 2H for outlines.

I usually have to use a 4H or a 6H for outlines, just because I tend to press too hard. For coloring, I saved and bought myself the PrismaColor set of 128 pencils. They're perfect for coloring, they're soft and blend beautifully. If you pace yourself, you can color an entire drawing with them and then scan it without it even looking like pencils in the PC. With some minor digital editing, it looks almost like digital work without all the hard work.

Ok, this isn't exactly pencil art, but it was at one point. I did it in pencil, then inked it, scanned it, and painted it in Photoshop.

It was sort of my first drawing painted completely in Photoshop so it's no that great, I still have a lot of details to work out. The first one's the ink, the second's the final one.

^ Wow, that's amazing, Eru!! :-o

Image
It took me about two days to draw this completely, and it's drawn in standard fineliner. The scanner's kind of messed it up, though, it does have more shading on it than shown [around the ears, for example, and the lower part of the cheek] . In case you can't tell, it's Tobey Maguire [Spider-man].

Image
Obviously not finished, but I thought I'd show it to you anyway... this is [slowly] being done in colouring pencils and watercolour pencils [watercolour pencils, for some reason, make it easier to colour and blend along with standard colouring pencils]. I plan to make his headscarf darker, as it's far too bright, but anyway, there it is.

I'm welcome to any criticism, I know much could be done to improve my drawings, so if you have any ideas, shoot 'em at me :)

[hugs Eruanna]

Well, I'm getting almost done with my self-portait, though I'm disatisfied with the shading of faces because the lighting was shined upon me from the bottom so it looks like I'm telling a ghost story. :D

ooh nifty. Ghost soty Kit!!!

The last self portrait that I did totally drove me MAD!!!!!!! (heh that was 2 years ago, I wanna do another one!!!)
It was made up of these tiny little squares of coloured paper from magazines (as in about 3 milimeters squared) It was abotu 2 feet tall by one and a half wide, All i had was a glue stick and million of million of little cut out squares.

It was entered into an art display, my father saw it and said "yours is better that that one they should have used yours"
Me:"that is mine
Father: O_O [walks away]

I'm not sure if I even kept it, I think I left it on the art room wall at school.
I'll have a look in my art box of doom (its where i have kept almost anything I've drawn for the last 10 or more years)

Thinking of making that portrait makes me mentally go into the foetal position.
