Your art doesn't necessarily have to be graphics. It can be drawn artwork, or photography, it's for any type of artwork that you make.

Yeah and be careful what you submit, hobo... if you do graphics out of screenshots and pictures from movies (such as banners or wallpapers) it'll get removed by the Moderators there and you'll receive a warning. |

I was wondering.. what are the (unwritten) rules on copyright on DeviantArt? Most people don't put warnings or copyrights on their art, and a good deal of them may also have borrowed from someone else. If I find something I like there, can I just go ahead and use it since the artist may also have got it from another source and then played around with it... which technically makes it new piece of art, that he/she could claim.. or?? |

Well, on deviantart, it is to my knowledge/experience that if they do not copyright it on their art, or in their discription of the image, it's up for grabs, I may be wrong though. I'll see if I can check it.... Deviantart: Terms and Services wrote: 4. Copyright

Thank you for looking it up. 
I don't go on DeviantART much... it's way too time-consuming.. when I venture there I usually don't manage to get away til the break of dawn.... 5 days later... lol. There is just so much to look at and so easy to get carried away... Anyway, one thing is written rules, another thing is what people actually do (since *cough* people don't *cough* tend to always read the rules *cough*). How would you react if you discovered people who ripped your art? Be proud and happy because someone liked it, or grumpy and pull out your fiery whip and go tell them to get their fingers off it? |
