The Minas Tirith one is BEAUTIFUL. I may use it, if that's alright.

Also, I really love the Princess Bride one from way back up there.

@ Legolas -- Thank you very much! :) I like yours -- it was definitely much better than my first attempt, definitely! I am currently using Photoshop CS3, but I used GIMP for the longest time and still use it occasionally. The best advice I would give is to not get discouraged and try to not compare to others' works, because some are just impossible to match (coughJFcough) and everyone has their own style. Also, always, always practice and don't be afraid to try something new -- find your style! I practiced by opening a request thread, so I worked both in and out of my comfort and "normal" zone. And don't be afraid to ask others for advice! Half of those I just made weren't have been half as well made had I not learned some blending tricks from Nurr here. You are definitely on the right track though, m'dear. :)

@ Nurr -- You're welcome to any and all that you choose, always! :) And thank you -- that took forever, it did!

@ Alanna -- Thank you very much! That means a lot, you have no idea, such high praise! :)

really? I have Photoshop CS3 and I don't think I could coax an avatar out of it even if I wanted to. how did you get started? did you just mess around with it? (a tactic that doesn't seem to be working for me. :P )

Yes ma'am! Go to the first page and you can see what I started out with (not with PS3, but still, hideous, in my opinion!) If you want an avatar, then just open a 100x100 pixel blank image. Then, pick a photo of an actor or actress or movie character that you adore -- a head shot or something. Open it and drag it into the blank image and then resize it to fit! Then just start pushing buttons and adding text to see what happens! It can be fun and you learn a bunch of cool tricks! Also, you can look at tutorials online or just ask around! I bet you'll get a nack for it, though! Just keep practicing!

Another banner I forgot to add!

thanks so much! I can't believe I hadn't figured out the blank image thing. :duh: I'd always started by opening a base picture and fiddling with it. I've only made one banner, and it's quite elementary :P
can I ask you one more question? and then I won't intrude on your graphic awesomness any longer? ;) it's a terribly stupid question, but I'm fixing to pull my hair out because I can't figure this out. anyway, now that I know how to start an image... if I want to add another image to the first one (putting them both on),... how do I do that?

You're not a bother at all! I like helping people, so this is quite enjoyable for me! :) After opening a blank image and then putting a picture on it, you just open another picture the same way you did a first and drag it on the image you are working on. It will place it on top of whatever you already have, but you can use the layers palet on the bottom right to reorder layers. :) Please, continue with any and all questions, and I will help with the best of my ability!

Such high praise, Ea -- I feel honored! :goofy: But seriously, thank you very much!

Thank you! I decided to request a Nazgul banner and found some pictures that I liked, so I decided to make some! I forgot how much I truly love them; they are some of my favorite villians, I mean, MAN...they are so wicked! Haha, I would agree -- the Nazgul never get enough publicity!
