Hello and welcome! This is the official sign up thread for the 2011 GMC! Don't know what the GMC is? The Graphic Maker's Cookoff is a time for graphic makers of all kinds to increase their production and skill, and to challenge them to stretch what they're used to doing. Visit this thread for some more basic information.
This summer the GMC will take place between July 29th and August 8th. The theme is Lord of the Rings! Graphics can be made of any subject, but challenges will revolve around the theme.
Challenges will be based around experimentation and an effort to make you step outside your normal range. There will be daily challenges August 1-6. Challenges are optional, but encouraged.
This year we will not have judges in the regular sense of the word. Instead, we will judge one another. This is optional. You don't have to have your work judged. Your graphics will be judged against one another, not against those of other people. There will be various criteria, such as best text, best texture, best blending, most unique coloring, best avatar, best banner, etc. (Thoughts on this would be good. PM me.) Every person who wants to participate will be assigned someone else in the GMC. At the end of the time, you will rank that one person's work according to the criteria. It may sound confusing, but it's not too bad -- if something is unclear, just ask.

2) If you want to be part of the judging proccess, SAY SO when you sign up.
3) Late sign ups are allowed. Just sign here, then you can start posting.
4) Post all your graphics in the Official GMC Posting thread (currently not up, but that doesn't matter because you can't start yet anyway).
5) DO NOT COMMENT on other people's work in the posting thread! Comment in the Official GMC Comments thread (also not up yet).
