Hey there, graphic makers and traditional artists!

We've started planning this year's Return of the Rings and of course we simply cannot pass by the Art contests.:goofy:
We already brainstormed some ideas about them. We'd like to host 4 contests:
- chapters of LotR
- races of Middle-Earth
- poster contest
- traditional art
Of course each contest consists of few rounds. ;)
Are you interested in helping out with the FanArt contests? Would you like to make a suggestion about a topic for a contest? What the traditional contest should be about - a scenery or portrait of a favourite character? Feel free to join our discussion. :)

Don't know what RotR is? Want to be part of the organisation? Want to share your ideas for the event? Then click here to visit RotR's Planning&Discussion thread:click here

I'd love to compete and take part :D

One question re- traditional art, do you mean traditional in the literal sense that the art must be made with pen/ pencil/ paint etc or would Digital art made from scratch completely on photoshop/ painter with a tablet and digital brushes be acceptable too?

I love the idea of a favourite character contest, but I think it would be interesting to mix it up a bit by depicting your favourite as you imagined them when you read the book or a general non!PJ version of the character, as it's quite easy to copy a promo image or use a screencap. Either that or it could be a picture of an alternate version of the character like if they were good instead of evil and vice versa, or your favourite character in a different time period. Heheheh I'm so full of ideas!! I haven't done traditional art in ages gah!

I like the idea for the other contests too, though if anyone ends up
with the Tom Bombadil chapters they've got a tough job :)

And I'm up for helping out and competing too :D

Well, I think this mainly depends on the participants - what kind of resources they have on disposal. I, personally would be interested to see some Digital Art made with Photoshop/tablet. :P
