Hello everyone! Nurrantiel Mashiara and I have decided to participate in a photoshop graphic battle featuring:


Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
The Hunger Games


Since we both have a love for all three of those books/movies listed, we decided to have the theme feature all three of them! Also, this battle will be an Alphabet battle- meaning, both Nurr and myself will each create a piece that will feature that specific letter of the alphabet. (Yes, 26 pieces!! :-o )

...I just realized I am going to have the hardest time with "F". Frodo, Fred, and Finnick. How do I choose?

The Argonath = favorite. :yes: I love the touch of map too! Anyway, I'm excited to see where this goes. You're both so talented so this'll be fun. :D

I wanted to avoid the obvious choices for "A" such as Aragorn and Arwen, so I decided it use something outside Lord of the Rings for this piece and go with something from Harry Potter. Hope you all like it. :-D

By the way, Nurr, your piece is absolutely amazing! I applaud you for thinking outside the box with your theme. :)

Nice! I'm guessing these pictures are from Dumbledore's death scene? I like the line of pics at the bottom... did you use different layer properties to get the different effects or did you just change the brightness and contrast? Also, that's a great texture. :)

Thank you! Actually, I think they are just promotional pictures from the Half Blood Prince. (And as for the row of pictures, the first one has a "soft light" effect as well as a black and white layer over it. The second is a black and white with the "subtraction" effect. The third one only has a "soft light"/ contrast effect, and the fourth is just a cropping of the original.) Hopefully, that helps. :)

I just really wanted to experiment with this piece, as you can probably tell! :)

Thanks all! I've been feeling a lot of map love recently and trying to put it into as much as possible.

Yours is awesome Leggie! I love the whole texture and way you did the background photo.

Thank you so much! And, Nurr, your second piece is so creative! I love the blending and the textures you used. And most of all, I love the subject you chose for this piece: Peeta. :) Definitely a very creative choice! I love seeing what you come up with in your art!

Thanks! :) Yeah, I wanted to do a non-LotR one, and Peeta is one of my favorites so I wanted to make sure I worked him in.

Very nice piece! I love that you used the Hobbit!Bilbo and the way you did the texturing and color on it!

I love the bright oranges you both used in your last rounds. :) And I agree with Nurr, the textures in the Baggins one are phenomenal! :swoon:

I agree, the Baggins one is fabulous! And although I haven't seen the Hunger Games yet :blush:, I also really like Nurr's Peeta one.

Oooo, I love the blending on this one; I like how you can see Lothlorien through him. Also, nice caption... and I completely agree with it. Legolas and Haldir get all the attention and no one ever talks about Celeborn! :lol:
