heya! I've been banner-making for fun lately, stuff I probably won't use unless I change banners a lot, so I thought I'd start a gallery with my graphics and some background info about them.
I'll be updating a little bit at a time.

a certain SHAMELESS fangirl named IdrilFalastari in the arms of a certain lovely blacksmith... ---->>>>

Song-Inspired Contest entries! vv
The song for this is Half A Week Before the Winter by Vanessa Carlton, the art is by - me, actually!
The song for this is X&Y by Coldplay.
The pictures are from PoA and GoF, but I picture the time period as the end of the sixth book - ron and hermione are ready to go with harry wherever he has to go.

notice, if you will, that hermione is wearing BLUE instead of pink! *victory dance*

This happens to be uber-huge, so I couldn't exactly post the image without ruining this thread.

It took me much... much... much... too long. As it says on the wallpaper, I idolize MAKANI, the greatest Harry Potter fan-artist EVER! for the "things that make you go W00t! contest"!
I kind of botched Edmund. *shrug* I do love that line in the movie.

just a random siggy I had the urge to make.
PIRATES ARE FESTIVE!

still we must endure until movie day... *sob*
entries for a Harry Potter Character contest...
I really love this one - from one picture, one texture, and lots of fun brushes - I got a Photoshop look to the avatar with the white space. and congratulate me on my double bright border! perhaps more trouble than it's worth - only time will tell.
I've always liked that girl who was on the cover of National Geographic - before my time, but when there was the article about her all grown up I read it, and it finally dawned on me to make a blend of her. for the new reflection contest!
this took much-O with a big fat O too much time for just some silly brushwork. for the new butterfly contest!
all right, I know it's odd - perhaps insane

but I was listening to Panic! At the Disco and I thought gasp! I can make a banner of this! so I did, the lyrics are to the song "Time to Dance."
snow leopard *gorgeous* for an animal contest.
hmmm I wonder that I didn't spot that in this banner, there are two pairs of wide eyes staring in different directions... ! for a Vintage banner contest.
I made two new banners, but it's for a contest where the entries are a secret until revealed for voting!

so I'll wait!
For a Valar contest - I imagine Varda standing with Manwe on Taniquetil, gazing over the world - I suppose she could wear a fur hood if she wanted to?
For a Galadriel contest - I like the smoothness and shininess.
*huggles* little harry and hedwig! I tried a more flat approach, instead of the look I usually go for - more professional and less crazy.
(edited Feb. 23rd) *sigh* Tom Riddle... I wonder how many girls broke their hearts over the heartthrob of Hogwarts? really Voldemort, you'd get a lot farther without resembling a snake skeleton... anyway, dark emotion sort of piece. I like the text effect, if nothing else, besides Tom's pretty face.
a very recent entry for a Luthien contest! I was excited and went on a two-hour search - ending up at Rolozo Tolkien, where I zeroed in on Alan Lee's wonderful interpretation.
Jadis, the White Witch - I was listening obsessively, as usual, to my thirty-second iTunes Narnia Soundtrack clips, in particular the Imogen Heap song, which I like very much. The sound and feel of the song inspired this banner, though interpreted differently in Jadis's case.
Just a bit of a random Harry/Ron/Hermione ship.
I entered a Three Tasks contest and made one banner - the first task - and gave up because I was busy. I was never really satisfied with that one banner, so I made a new one, and I'm still leaving it at that - never could wring out enough pictures of the second task to avoid a headache. and even though I had the best intentions of fitting Krum in there somewhere, it never worked out. run, harry, run!
I found new Fleur pics on Veritaserum! in honor of my discovery, here she is. It's a bit of a powder-blue flesh tone contrast, with that marvelous pink lip color.
Mr. Pain-in-the-butt pirate! long time before I came up with something satisfactory... but I like the coloring of skeletal Jack to the left from a texture, then crystal-clear Jack (in the flesh) at you with a pistol.
Sirius! *swoon* You have to love Sirius. I keep reading the 5th book, expecting him to stay alive... *isn't there a crying smiley here somewhere?* The closeup of Sirius I found in a picture that mainly featured Lupin - but there was Sirius lurking in a corner with the exact expression I wanted. The avatar - "Sirius - practically royal" quotes the 5th book.
They've cast Luna Lovegood! I saw a picture of her and thought wow, she really could be my Luna. So I made a banner and wore it for a while before I made something else.
I thought I'd make a Padme banner, so when I found this picture, and then the other one (placed vertically) it seemed to match. after a lot of fiddling around and starting over I came out with this. It was one of the last times I used a certain Grunge Scratch brush before I lost it when my computer crashed.

Shame - it really added an effect.
This was for a contest run by Varda Undomiel. Arwen, in the Return of the King, is telling Frodo that her choice was that of Lùthien - both the bitter and the sweet. I finally figured out how to inner bevel text - but it's kind of tempermental and doesn't always match well. It took me a long time before I figured out that what I wanted was just Arwen and Aragorn kissing, her sleeve trailing across a shot of the Grey Havens.
Another banner for the same contest, and another milestone! I used a tutorial by the webmaster for a "dreamy glow," and it looked v. nice! I really like this picture of Arwen - she looks young.
