Well there is an excellent starter tutorial on AU. It's what I started using so I would recommend that one. But it is for Paint Shop Pro users. Here's the link.

EDIT: Here is your Arwen banner. I had to change 2 of the pictures as they were not big enough and the quality a little poor. I found 2 other pictures which are as close as I could get to what you wanted. I hope there OK. I also had to highlight the text as otherwise you wouldn't see it! Hope you like it!

Oh, good. I'm glad it was what your friend wanted. Photoshop tutorials? Hmm...I have seen them around. Leave that with me and I'll find some for you from other sites. You should look at the Tutorials & Resources section here on AU, Photoshop is popular so there should be lots of help there.
