OK, I'm getting ready to buy a nice image editing program (such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop, ect.), and I was wondering which program you'd all reccomend. Seeing as the programs are very expensive, I want to make the right choice! So, which program do you like, and which do you think I should get? Thanks in advance guys!

Well.. I'd reccommend Paint Shop Pro. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 but I think any version is fine. Paint Shop Pro is better for beginners [yes it's also great for people who are familiar with graphics]. Adobe Photoshop has more effects..etc but it's also more confusing and more expensive than Paint Shop. So if your not that great with graphics I'd suggest Jasc Paint Shop Pro.

I use Photoshop and it's great for me. It's a lot more expensive, though, you'll have to take that into consideration. Paint Shop Pro I can't really say much about, even though I've tried them both. Personally I like Photoshop better. But you can download trial versions for both. And see which one you like better. Just Google search "Photoshop Trial" or "Paint Shop Pro trial" and your bound to come up with something. :)

I have Paint shop Pro 8 and Adobe Photo shop 5.0. I've found that PSP is easier to use, but PS is more advanced... I haven't been able to learn how to use PS properly but I am loving more as I use it! PSP is great for beginners or just finding options easily... I love them both and recommend them both!

I use PaintShop Pro 8 myself. If I were to tell you which is the best program I'd definitely say Adobe Photoshop, because it's what every graphic designer uses. That's how they make movie posters; with Adobe Photoshop. But if you've never really made graphics before it's quite daunting to try it, and plus it costs a FORTUNE. The newest version (CS 2) sells at around $800 US. I think that's about 400 British pounds. PaintShop Pro usually runs at a little less than $100 US, so I'd definitely suggest that first. It's a lot easier to use and it's more user-friendly. And, if you wait awhile, you can find the newest version of PSP for even cheaper. My dad bought PSP 8 last summer, a couple months before PSP 9 came out for $80 with a $30 rebate. He ended up only paying about $50 for the program, which isn't all that bad. :D

thanks (again) guys! I have a free trial version of PSP 9 right now (I only have 5 days left now :) ), but I haven't used it that much because it won't let me add text! :disgust: I think I'll get the trial version of PS after the PSP trial runs out, and see which is better....if only I could've use the PSP better :(...anyway, I did download a lot simpler program called Photo Plus that works alright....I think I might do what you suggest, SpanishEvenstar, and buy PSP first, and move onto PS later....I still don't know yet...does anyone know about Adobe Image Ready? I saw a friend using it a while ago just to 'glamorize' some pics, but it looked pretty nice....

ImageReady is an animation program that comes default with any Photoshop. :) PSP comes with Animation Shop, and PS comes with ImageReady. :) You don't need to pay extra for it; it's already there.

OK, thanks! Is it an animation program then? Or just another image editor that comes with PS?

As far as I know it's just an animation program. At least it lets you make animations. :) PS itself is the image editor. :)

I use Photoshop, and I love it! It was easy for me to learn how to you. I pretty much just played around with everyhting and read a few tutorials on how to use it. The brushes you can use with Adobe are awesome and the effects you can you are so cool too!

I have Paint Shop Pro 9-but I'm still learning how to use it. By the way, does anyone know any good tutorials on how to download brushes into PSP 9 because I think it is different from older versions?

I've always used Photoshop. Previously Photoshop 7.0 and now Photoshop CS. So that's why I recommend Adobe Photoshop 7.0 - the best graphic program!

Thanks LU! :) Is Photoshop 7 any less expensive than PS CS?
And what are they're differences? Cause when I went on the Adobe website and searched for Photoshop, I didn't see anything about PS7, just about PS CS...
